So a small art store near my school went out of business and lost their lease. Out back.. the entire store lay in a dumpster. Obviously the employees took most of the good stuff, but i gotta tell you, i got REALLY dirty and salvaged at least up 500 bucks in paints, pencils, canvas rolls, sketchbooks and a shit load of other stuff. I just filled the back of my car and... well it was one of the happiest moments for me as an artist. So much so, i had to share. :bashful:

which store was that? I could try to hit that dumpster on the way home from work if it isn't already empty.

Agreed.
I was going to post "Show us the booty!" then realised that could be interpreted the wrong way.

anh, I didn't go. I realized that the only supplies I use are mechanical pencils and sketchbooks and I have plenty of both. but I hope you were able to grab some nice oil brushes for yourself!

I have this mental image of a post apocalyptic setting like in Escape from New York with artists searching for art supplies in mounds of rubbish rather than people searching for food.

I got mostly paint.. all the GOOD paints were gone. I imagine the employees were intelligent and took dibs. But wow.. so much paper! The place did a lot of custom framing too, so i was able to get a lot of framing supplies.
I just need to borrow my buddy's digicam and i will show you my loot (and the dumpster for kicks). :bashful:

hahah thats awesome! free supplies!! I bet people who saw you where wondering what the heck you were doing.
I would do the same thing, but first.. I would get in good with the employees at the store and beat them to it, laughing all the way home like a greedy loonatic :)
