[ Not still Robot Week... ]

[ ... Just a naturally occurring robot topic. ]

[ So don't blame me... ]

[ ... Blame nature. ]

[ This topic could really lend itself to a Norman Rockwell approach, I think. ]

[ We've got a dad who is probably pretty frustrated with this SteamBot... ]

[ ... and that suggests that some kid or kids are either nearby or conspicuous by their absence. ]

I don't understand what people seem to have against robots. It was just a robot-themed week. Get over it. :[

SimoSK8 - Sorry. If you're not a fan of robots, I suppose this could be a trying time. However, I have attempted to approach the "robot" theme from some different angles, and it seems to me that each topic could (and should) communicate a very different mood and show a very different kind of bot... I think the differences between "cyborg romulus & remus", "r.o.v. spots shark", and "child is pal with deathbot" are pretty numerous.

Besides, I hope you know I'll mix things up to level the field. There'll be a steady stream of old-fashioned fantasy, non-bot sci-fi, hi-jinking monster, and over-fed dream oriented topics to sate even the most varied of appetites.

So hang in there.

...And not once did I ask for a "Mecha" ;)

no no.. bots are cool, just thought the week starts on sunday, so i was just waiting for sumfin different.. And yes, this theme has been approached from different angles so that's been cool. Gotto give a hand for choosing the topics b.:)

Dad may be a succesful enterpeneur, and certainly has the money to afford his very own steam boat, but when it comes to mechanics dad is just a bumbling bufoon.
painter, 45? half assed, not quite inspired, now less talk and more art.

I think the term "bot" can be taken in quite a few different ways, certainly a "Steambot" seems to be able to lend itself to maybe a more Fantasy-SciFi. If you don't like doing robots try twisting the words around a little bit so they work more towards what you prefer. Personally, I like robots, so I might be trying that once we get into other topics.

Little Suzan and Bobby thought it would be fun to brake the hot water steamer… little did they know their pops would be pissed.

For now however I give him kudos, and now that i read teh topic a little bit more... its not quite a bot.. err i mean this the steam heart of a giant house bot (yea thats it) a giant house bot and he is fixing it... hea hea hea.. Signed up for the forums a while back, did one DSG and then couldn't muster up the courage to post anything else. Hopefully posting some regular sketches in this part of the forum will make me suck less.

Oh, and if anyone happens to follow the link to my website, please bear in mind that everything on there is almost a year old and nowhere near what I'm doing now. Huge update in progress.

rebekahann - That's sweet great sence of form. That guy must have a tall ass ceiling :confident
xgabo - I always love seeing your post. Kick ass.
goran - Killer man, you got that metal looking really great.

goran - Cool pic. I dig the texture and style of the bot, dad's use of a large mallet on what appears to be delicate bits, and the old "holding of the ladder" help of the kid.

xgabo - Bravo! <3 Beautiful bot, good composition, great interaction, unexpected humour... Easily my fave. I do notice it is not a steambot, per sé, but that's quite forgivable.

mysterian - Oh, I feel so bad for them! :( Another excellent image! Great bot, and depressing predicament tailored perfectly to the topic.

rebekahann - I had wondered if anyone would do an Xmas tie-in ;)... A good sketch with nice frustration on dad! The scale of the kid and dog seems a bit small, especially considering that they are in the foreground. I hope we see more from you, and you should make it apparent in your signature when you get your site updated!

I'm afraid I've got nothing to offer tonight, myself, :nohope: but I wanted to comment anyway. :P
