The first was some sketches for a digital piece I did that I posted here a while ago. The second's a recent sketch dump I posted on my website.
Comments and crits are always welcome

not much here to really crit. the frog creature (?) on the drums is cute, but this is bearly much to speak of. i suggest that you considar your next update to have more than the cartooney style youve just introduced us to. figures, environments. even a good collection of zaqney cartoon characters would be good for us, so we can see what all you are capable of. these things take commitment. take care.

Heya, it's a quick head study. Usually I'm an Oil guy when it comes to life drawing, but today I felt like doing my daily-ish head study in painter. It's painted from a black and white photo, so I'm making up the colors. It's good practice, btw;)

Thanks for the comments and crits Azeira and Sawa, I'll put some stuff in from my sketchbook that you mentioned next time I do a mass sketchbook scan. It won't be for at least a couple weeks though.
Cheers, y'all

I like the portrait practice you are doing in painter. Looks good color wise for copying from b&w photo. Very nice. Keep posting

Heya,
K, first, I heard y'all on the suggestion for more anatomy, and I promise I'll post some sometime. I have about twice as much anatomy work in my sketchbook right now as I do other sketchings. I just haven't scanned it:( Takes time. So, anywho, on to teh sketch-

I can't seem to figure out if there's somewhere else that we used to post figure studies. Oh well, seems like there was. So, here's some quick head studies I did for my head painting class. There's some more that I want to show, but they're not dry enough yet for me to play around with them.

More life drawing. Got twice this much that I haven't scanned yet, didn't really have time to scan it now actually. But I promised my friend/model Lucy, (the one I did the full figures of) and my friend Carla, that I'd send them copies today. Comments and crits always welcome.

there we go. Here's a warmup char study too, not finished at all. I'm thinking my goal for this year is to do 300 finished character designs. I'm not sure yet how to do it, but I'm starting to get really attached to this goal.

I think I am going to do this. Seriously, and I'm really really pumped. 300 finished character designs. I'm thinking I'll take two hours everyday, except Sunday, and do a finished character design. Usually I'm more of a painter, but I'm finding that for faster, commercial/editorial paced work, I just don't have the 20 hours it takes me to do even a basic painting. For example, this was for my editorial class:
http://www.beauxpaint.com/gallery/thedrawer/old/tape.jpg
That took like 18 hours, not that that's a big deal. When I'm working on a painting that's supposed to be for a children's book (I'm a student btw, haven't published anything yet) I enjoy spending like 80 hours or more on a painting. But if you've got a magazine that wants an article illustrated pronto, you don't have 80 hours, or sometime even 18. I don't want to spend 18 hours on a project that is just gonna be thrown away by everybody with the daily paper. So, one of my goals this year is to learn to do a finished piece, high quality character design or editorial style piece within two hours. I mean, Jasen Strong (http://www.artstooges.com/jasenstrong), a popular dreamworks char designer, does 5 finished character designs on average perday. And that's just at work; then he goes home and works on his own stuff. Can't I do at least one in my spare time?
Oh, and here's today img, the reason why I got on here in the first place. I painted this in the 2 hr. time limit. I might switch to pen and watercolor... that way I can work more on the shape, less on the color and value. I dunno though.....

Keep in touch, I'll be posting all six for each week every saturday night.
