[ Frankly, I can't remember the specific mythological situation in which a pig is nursing a human baby, but I think it was something from Ancient Greece. ]
[ ...I'm remembering some old sculpture that displayed this. ]
[ Is this too wierd? :^^;: ]

It was a she-wolf feeding Remus and Romulus, the founder of Rome...

Born to parents belonging to a strange cultural cult, these siamese twins were taken away immediatly and been given the status of living gods, in the belief that they will build new Rome, adding to it's glory through the sharing of thier joined lobe. The twins were given to a she wolf, technologically altered to walk on her hind legs, given opposable thumbs, and having engineered milk, suitable for humans.
painter, hour?

Hey guys, there's some nice work so far!
-CrazyHarij, That's some really nice use of light there. It really looks (and feels?) like moonlight.
-Hamsta, I really like the foreshortening on the wolfs face, you really got that down well. I like the concept of your piece, and the direction, but the balance of the upright wolf is a little "off". She's leaning forward waay to much to be able to be upright. It actually looks like she's being supported by cables, and some sort of post behind her. I guess that works with the concept, but I don't think that's what you intended, really.

I see most people interpreted cyborg babies as human babies. Here is my version with wolf (or is it dog) babies:

There's really nothing cyborgy or biomechanicy about this yet, but I'm not done with it.
I do like it at this point, so I just thought I'd post it and come back with an update in a little bit (maybe after a short Call of Duty break, hehe).

Nothing very cyborgy or biomechanicy about this yet, but it's not finished.
I'll post an update in a while (maybe after a little CALL OF DUTY break, hehe), but I rather like where this is already and thought I'd toss it onto the thread.

Hideyoshi - Thanks! Nothing from you on this one? :[
Aga - Nice concept. Has a METROPOLIS-like quality to it.
Sorandal - Reminds me of Henry Darger. I like that you turned the pic 90 degrees, but the perspective of the bowls could use correction. A pleasing drawing, nonetheless.

Will, I got an email notifying of a new reply and there is everything like in your reply here but with "Jakub Sudra - Thank you for the topic correction. No offering from you? :[". That's weird, no?
I'll think about this topic, but I'm rather busy and, most of all, it seems rather hard to me ;) . I don't have any idea how to approach it :\ .

Here you go...
It's good that you convinced me to do it, I got myself some nice practice with the scratchboard rake. Fast, but it's rather ok.

Jakub Sudra - Hehe. Nice graphic approach. I especially like the whole tread area, the baby, and the lower right corner. Glad you went ahead and did something for this one... I'm a little bummed when a topic gets so meager a response (even though weekends are typically slow). :\

Thought I'd bug you one more time with another update, hehe.
Such a slow thread...
I really liked this topic (obviously), and hereby declare it "O.K." for me to monopolize it. ;)

Will - Thx a lot. It was my first crit on CA forum ;)
The climate of your work is fearsome. Maybe because of color, this mysterious she wolf or the rapacious pose of the baby on the right sight.
Yep, this work has got a climate, for sure.
I don't have to add this part about your drawing skills - you are proffesional :}
Usefull for me is the process (which u show us) of creation this work on computer.
I watched it carefully because I haven't got experience in a computer graphic. I'm going to change it soon.
Maybe I will start to make my first steps , on this field, here on DSG :)

Kaylon These aren't babies. And this she-wolf isn't too cyborg. Other than that it's nicely painted. I like the fur effect and the blue light source. And it's rather interesting.
CrazyHarij It's rushed. A pity, because the colour scheme is very good, sets the atmosphere nicely.
Hamsta You're getting better. It's much more defined than your earlier works and the story is original and amusing.
Sorandal That's very basic. I like the somewhat funky composition and it would look cool in colour.
Aga Interesting. The shading on the she-wolf looks fine, I'd like to see how you'd cope with the rest of this piece, could end up really neat.
William b. Hand Thanks, I also like the botom right corner :) .
About yours: didn't you go just a little bit overboard with the noise?
But I really like the style and the mood is outstanding. Same goes to technique - I don't know if I could paint a baby so well.
And I have to say it again - the atmosphere is superb - creeps me out.
Hmm... and I don't know, but you can take a look at this simple variation that I made, I don't know if it's better, but maybe a fresh look is interesting.

Wow, well for some of the fewest responses I think it got some of the best ones I've seen so far. William b. Hand, really nice, I love it, makes me wish I had done something for this as well, but alas I was to busy those days and never got around to it.

Demiurgic - Thanks!
Jakub Sudra - Hehe... Well, I suppose it's just a matter of tastes, but I like the noise... When I tweak some details, I'll also see what it looks like with less noise (that's all on it's own layer).
As for your hyper-darkening of it...
Umm... well... Although the subject could be painted in a very drastic lighting and work just fine, that's not really what I was shootin' fer and that's not how I painted it.
You lose all of the detail, texture, and even most of the basic forms (all the things I like about it).
The mood is changed. I wasn't actually shooting for something dark and spooky, I was shooting for something beautiful. I had the "cartoons" of Da Vinci and also the ancient Greek bas reliefs in mind when I made this (I think some love of Mark Ryden also made it's way in there...).
So, the understanding of what is going on is totally changed and I guess I prefer my grainy, well-lit versions. :P
The enthusiastic response is appreciated, though. :^^:

Jakub Sudra Thank you, always nice to get an ass pat.
Very nice illustration from you, I really feel this could go with some sort of article, with it's fresh look at things. I think the "mistakes" you made, such as the baby's body, or the perspective of those treads, really add to the spontanious and graceful look of the thing. A splash of color to "pop" something out might be a good idea to experiment with, but maybe it's totally unneccesary.

Hi Jakub
I supposed that if I work on it and add some more details and shading it could look not good, because if I work closly on each part of a piece it ends often bad ha ha.
My finished sketches look often too similar in each parts.
In your work I like that they are various and have got nice linework ;)
