Greetings conceptart.org,
I'm a long time lurker, first time poster, and it's a biggie...
Considering the AWESOME talent on this board, and the nasty workload I’m already carrying on this film, the producer, director, and I thought we’d throw out a request for help to this auspicious body (flattery never hurts, right ;) ).
We’re currently in pre-production for a fan film set in the “Aliens” universe entitled “Dropzone Copernicus”. We are looking for concept artists to help in the creation of the environments that will be in the best (and one of the few) “Aliens” genre fan films out there.

Mining Colony-214 "Copernicus" is a distant outpost
world that has profited the Weyland-Yutani Corporation
for over a century. However, when an emergency
distress call is recieved by the outpost, a small
detachment of United States Colonial Marines is sent to
retrieve any survivors. When the Marines arrive,
however, they encounter a situation that is more than
they ever bargained for...

This film is being produced by some of the core members of a well known California prop & costuming group called Hi-Impact. You can see some of our work at the Hi-Impact website: www.hi-impact.org Note though, that the Aliens costumes, armor, & props will be updated from what you see here. As such, the props & costumes in this film will be first rate. Other members of the production crew are professionals in the field of video production, and more are film school graduates, so that side of the house is nailed down quite well.
Because the film is being shot entirely via blue-screen, what we REALLY need right now are some folks that can help with the visualization for the 3D production aspects of the film. There are multiple interior and exterior environments that need to be conceived of and built by the 3D folks that I'm recruiting on the LWG forum. I'm swamped at the moment because I’m also the one doing the storyboards for the 22 page script, most of the pre-production artwork to date (hoping to get some help from here, of course :D ), the cinematography, camera ops, sound mixing, and editing the finished film.
If you are reasonably familiar with the Aliens universe and technology level (or can take direction from us on the subject), can work at a decent production pace (we’re aiming to start principal photography within a month), and can do it for nothing more than pride and full credit (including URL if desired) in the film, please contact me at the address below.
I need some help fleshing out the design of the mining complex and seperate concrete tunnel system that the bulk of the film is set in. There's also a little bit of exterior work to be fleshed out as well.
Here's a link to the teaser trailer that we did before a local sci-fi convention. Pricipal photography, a re-shoot, re-texturing Magma's Sulaco to the USS Cerberus, building the corridor set in Lightwave, throwing together the cheesy textures from Darkwave's program, ripping off the movie for a coupla' scenes 'cause I didn't have the time, and finally editing it all together, was done in only 3 days. So with that caveat, enjoy ;)
