View Full Version : DSG 885: Sci-Fi Tech Environment: SHIPS ARE DWARFED BY VAST DOCKING "CATHEDRAL"

[ The perspective can be interior or exterior. ]
[ No robots tonight... ]
[ ...It is Mini-Break-From-Robot Day. ]
[ Robot week will return tomorrow. ]
[ However, you may include robots in today's image, perhaps in the extreme foreground, if it sells the perspective. :P ]

The greatest accomplishment of the Theocrats, "The Citadel" is a weapon of belief, showing the power of the one god, and the sight of it is usually enough to subside any brewing conflict.
Ok, so I went fantasy on this. Sue me.

I have one crit for everyone's entry except for the first post (for which my crit would be that it isn't very sci fi tech :P ) and crazy harij's post, and that is that none of these really feel like the cathedral is dwarfing the ships. I mean yes, the cathedrals look much larger than the ships, but you don't get the impression of being dwarfed in them. My suggestion would be to try playing some more extreme perspectives, maybe something closer to a worm's eye view or something. Anyway that's just my two cents.

Wow guys, everyone's got some great ideas for this one! This is my first DSG post, and my first real try in Painter 7. 3 hours (I'm slow).

This one took me awhile, something around 3-4 hours. I'm not very good with either ships or backgrounds, but nothing's better for that than practice...Right? I would've put loads of those ships docked at the bottom, but it took me too long to work out the perspective neatly for each landing pad.

Sketchling, nope, I'm not going to Prague... I recently moved to a new flat and just repainting the bedroom was liek a billion dollars... :dead:
Btw, I visited your homepage earlier today, you got some hot stuff there! >:D

HA-HA! Only a day late on this one! I know... this one is pretty weak, but I think the idea is fairly strong.
There is a ton of great stuff today... Like William said, pretty much everything is really strong. Keep it up guys!
I was really happy with the ball-point thumbnail in the corner, and started on a larger, more detailed version that I was planning on actually rendering... I ran out of time, and had to go to bed.

One of the things that always bothered me about Warhammer 40K was the cathedral space-ships. I had a lot of trouble getting into this one... Not that that's really an excuse.
