Wow, I duno if its possible, but you have improved greatly. May I ask how? These are truly awesome. The figures are great. You draw them during a class? My favourite would have to be the phoenix though. The faces hands and other bodies are great too, but the phoenix is just so cool :D

WildSpruceMoose - Thanks. I dunno how i've "improved" but thanks! I guess that means that my practice is working. The heads I drew before going to bed. The gestures I did in painter...didn't feel like hooking up the ol' scanner and such...so the medium was there. As for the Pheonix...I was thinking of getting that as a tatoo on my upper arm, and having the tail swirl down my arm to my wrist.

Cool idea for a tattoo :D I mean I dunno I just see improvement I mean you were already good when i first saw your first works, but now I am even more amazed :) Practise does pay off ;)

BTW your new style of sketching (Godess of the Undead you said in dsg) intrigues me. Do you have any tips for someone wanting to use a similar sketch style? Basically how do you do it so well in an under 2 hr sketch

Spruce - similar style eh? lol.

Okay. Here's the run down. Once I get what the DSG is, I just quickly sketch out whatever comes in mind. The Godess of the Undead on in particular was done in Painter for the line work. I don't know why, but sometimes, I like doing line work better in there than in Photoshop. Either way, once the line work is completed (on a seperate layer by the way :) ) I transfer over to Photoshop, make a new layer inbetween then linework layer and the bg layer. In that layer I begin colouring. Remember in your linework to keep it loose. Maybe even turn the opacity down to like 60 or 75% so you can get heaver line weights where you need them. As for the colouring bit, I still need help with it, so I would rather not dive into that.

If you want tips on sketching faster, I personally suggest (as I'm sure many others will agree) that do some life drawing. Whether it's a live model or from magazines. Wherever. But practice doing 15 and 30 second gestures. I love them the most.

By doing these gestures you will train yourself to get a quick character down. So when you break down times, it'll look something like this:

GESTURE TIME: 1 minuite MAX
FLESH OUT GESTURE: 2 minuites MAX
MUSCLES: 5 minuites MAX
DETAILS: 10 minuites MAX
------------------------------
TOTAL: 18 - 20 minuites MAX

Now...if you have that, you now have 1 hour and 10 minuites for colouring. Now take into account the fact that that was for one character of course.

Anyways, I hope that helpedcha! Laters!!

Yeah thank you, this was very helpful. I will try it tonight, my original sketches still hurt me the most and this should help me improve. Anatomy is, imo one of the finer parts of art and something you've got down with no problems.;)
