here's my latest concept: its for a gameart competition at cgchat. thought i'd put it here to get some c&c from you pros: ive been browsing this forum and there is some absolutely incredible work here!
heres the image:
EDIT: I HAVE REPLACED THE IMAGE HERE WITH A RE-EDITED VERSION AFTER DEALING WITH THE LEG SCALE ISSUE + SOME SLIGHT TWEAKING. I THINK I'VE IMPROVED IT CONSIDERABLY: WHAT DO YOU THINK? :EDIT

Well it looks pretty good to me. I see you have some slight Odin (hence the name obviously) thing going with the missing eye. If you want to keep it a little closer to the myth, he used a spear not a sword.

There are some problems with this though...
The legs seem way too small/thin to support the large upperbody and head.
But a subtle thing that I noticed is that part of the breastplate overlaps the shoulder plates. This would seriously hamper the movement of his arms.

Overall it looks good though.

hmmm: i knew that there was something wrong with the main image: methinks the legs are it!! thanks for pointing it out: i've been staring at it knowing something wasnt quite right but being unable to suss exactly what it is... i will re-edit his proportions a tad.
to explain about the sword: the competition is to re-design a final fantasy character for a sequel. i have srtipped odin of all his powerful immortal weapons and made him roam the earth to find them again: so gungir (his spear) along with his 8 legged horse, ravens, wolves and his special ring are all no longer in his posession.... he is making do with a normal sword until he finds his spear :) i've given him his 10 bolted bow though (as a gift from the gods type thing): attached to his shoulderpads.
your right about the arm movement too... i will see how i can deal with it at model stage: i think it will be ok....
