Hey everyone - I'm looking, to my dismay, for a toned sketchbook. Anything from 8" to 17" (largest dimension) will do, but I can't seem to find the brown/cream toned paper like I used to see everywhere. In college I worked at an art store, and we had several kinds, now I can't seem to find ONE that is toned nicely for sketching.
I noticed FredFlickstone (from Watt's School) had one in his posts from a while back:

Any help locating these would be much appreciated - online purchases are fine, and Canson's Cream Paper doesn't seem to be dark enough. Wirebound preferred. :)

This is your lucky day my man. I jus went on a big ol search for toned books like this.

Unfortunately the biggest I can find them anymore is 8 1/2 x11 (I personally like em at 9"+). I kinda fell in love with these books during school but the art store I bought them at stopped selling them. I mean c'mon! I like using white!
btw I recommend against the Kraft paper. Doesn't hold ink very well, (unless I jus got a really bad batch)

Kinko's will bind paper into a book form and you can customize it with any paper you want.

ick - if I *can* avoid Stinko's, I do. They've botched a lot of jobs here, for me.

the company, cachet(pronounced cashay), still makes em. i think the series is called earthbound sketchbooks. they also make a cream and a mid-value neutral grey sketchbook. those ones are in the ecru series sketchbooks. if your local art store carries cachet books, then you can special order it through them but you have to buy them by the box. thats what i do.

hey Joe, you should raid the local WinnDICKme for their paper bags and then staple them together into a book.

Huh, I had the same problem not too long ago. I eventually ended up buying a whole ream of loose 9"X12" Manila paper and then binding it into a hardbound sketchbook myself. Was a nice project, and now that all the paper is permanently bound in a nice looking book It makes me feel I should spend more attention on the sketches I do.
Would have liked to find a paper other than manila, but, geeze it is hard to find good toned paper these days.

i just tea-stain my regular ol sketchbook. gives a cooler feel, and adds more variety to the brown tones than normal brown paper gets.

I've always used to do that for homework when I was young, great idea!
