...other dragon ! :bashful:
Here's my how great coloring skills with photoshop !! (now you can say 'ohhh !!' and bow)
Seriously, it's been a while that I haven't worked on it.
One of my first and only colored piece.
I know it could use a background, but it'll be used as a logo.
Any kind of critics welcome, especially related with the colors.

The lighting is off/ virtualy non-existant. This makes the D20 look flat as hell. You have a few shadows but they don't follow the contours of the dice and if the light is above the dice then surely the top surfaces will be lighter.
Also the numberis is off. I'd say don't be afraid of using Text and free-transforming it to the correct shape.
Other than that - the dragon is looking pretty damn good. (although the left wrist looks a lottle crazy)

What does his left wrist have to make it look weird ?

Tryed to add some kind of light and add more shadows into the dice.

Well, the dice looks a little better. The brown crack still looks like dead ivy that was growing on it.
The dragon is still flat as a pancake, though. There is no depth, or effective use of values to make it more 3-dimensional...The claws look good, but the hands (?) they are attached to look like cutouts. Part of it is the coloring streaks, but I think most of it is the uncomfortable looking anatomy. That arm over the dice looks neither dragonish or human, just kinda lumpy yet flat... Maybe deepening the values of your color...

Something like that ?
Or am I completely in the wrong direction ?

I think it's starting to look a little better, don't you?
Now, maybe add just a bit (1% or less) of noise to the skin of the wings, and then gaussian blur it very, very slightly to smooth the texture a bit.
Also, look at the shadow beside the arm on the dice. 180 degrees opposite is where you are establishing a light source...Think about how that is going to affect your highlights...

its getting there, but you can still do plenty more. if you want the dice to "pop", why not add some texture? get a gritty, stone-like surface and apply it, then if you like it try adding similar texture to the dragon. the scales beneath his neck arent sitting well with me.. theyre sort of malaligned in relation to the positioning of his head and the implication of his neck. perhaps some of the uncomfortable anatomy that madster is referring to could be amended if you lost the hunchback and added a hint of arm and shoulder for the disembodied hand? at the moment hes very twisted up. keep working at it! :}

step one in any good painting:
get rid of the white backbround!
some pros use white really well...
its a hard thing to do!
for the most part, save your white for the most inportant part of the painting (usually not a bg).
also, emphasize cast shadows whenever possible.
it adds form to an object.

Crap, DSillustration.. it look great. You put shadows at place that I haven't even realised that it needed some.. :\
I'll change the background.
Madster, currently working on it.
'stoph, not a bad idea. I'll check this out too.

Added a background color, the gaussian blur to the wings' skin and added some shadows.
Oh, and don't mind the arrow. :dur:

Althael, your only major problem now, is that the light source you have (I assume the arrow) does not match the light reflections on the numbers on the dice.
This is really starting to develop nicely, though with a bit smoother look to the wings, and the depth starting to come out with the shadows and color tints.
You may want to correct the dice highlights, and call this one done. I'm sure you've learned some interesting things, but you don't want to overwork a piece to the point of "burnout."

Oups, haven't notified that.
I'll continu working on it, I'm having fun with it. Plus, there's still some stuff to work on. I've already made some burnout, I won't with this piece.
