more pastel madness!

another pastel from class yesterday. this one is on dark green toned canson paper.

dude! c'mon now!! That is really good! the head really pops out of the canvas... though the lower body of the bust seems flat? I think you could have put a little stronger of a highlihgt on the left shoulder to bring it out more.. it seems to hold the same value as the oposite shoulder.. that make sense?but none the less looks bad ass!

Daarken, this is seriously bad ass my friend. Great work. I agree with Deth on the shoulders, it does flatten a bit there, but the head is great. How do you like working with pastels?

dude I just did my first figure with pastels last night...you have all my respect dude...it's really hard to mix the colors right. You are freakin awesome.

coro: thanks! hah, yeah james wu is the master. he is coming out with a book soon, and he just came out with some videos of him doing demos with pastels and some with caran dache. yeah, ive learned more in his class this semester than i have the whole time ive been with the academy.

mind: thank you! so how was it with the pastels? do you like working with them? keep at it!

blackhawk: ahh, thanks man! i love working with pastels. its probably one of my favorite mediums now. next week we are going to learn how to use caran dache, those should be sweet.

deth: yeah, that was my "losing" part of the painting, but i guess it was too much huh? i totally see where you are coming from, thanks.

Yeah I liked workin with them but I STINK at using them. I need to take some lessons from you. I will keep working with them though...almost like painting.
