Oh mah gosh!

Video Game Art is a first look from an art history and post-modern cultural perspective at the influences behind, and achievements of today’s genre-defining video games. Examining themes such as character, environment, and the growing place of video games among more traditional art forms, and including commentary from luminaries of the field and often unpublished behind-the-scene art of both past and upcoming games, Video Game Art is a pioneering foray into what promises to be the dominant art form of the coming century.

Sounds sweet, and not bad at all for 30 bucks. For those of us who go for these "Art Of" books, this seems like one to pick up for sure.

Yeah, this definetly sounds cool, but I hope it not another one of those "homage to the art and sophistication of games" books that happens to mention BS like how characters such as Lara Croft are "innovative, deep, and groundbreaking." I've heard way too much on how great a character Lara Croft is, and less about how artististically innovative games like Ico, and Rez are.

Cool that it has some Metal Gear concept art as the cover...

Oh. a definite score. I love the Shinkawa art on the cover. Everytime I see the art of metal gear at conventions, it runs for about 45645646465 dollars. Hopefully this will display a nice proportion of his work.

I've seen most of those on the internet...not really interested after looking at the inside pics.

:rendered: Yea, Shinkawa is something else I tell ya. His style will be remembered for a long time. I wonder what project he'll work on after the metal gear series. Hopefully he'll still pair up with Kojima. Anyway, the book looks kickass. But its not out yet on amazon. Gotta wait for it. Thanks for the heads up.
