Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new here- I just posted somthing last week on the finished works section. I have an angel/fairy painting here that I did that I consider finished (I think) but I'm not quite sure about the plain background though. Any help would be appreciated.

First, please click the FAQ link at the top of the page, and read the FAQ's about posting images.

Now, regarding your image, I am moving it to SWIPs, as it is not completed, and is still more a WIP.

Critique to follow.

Besides reading the FAQ's to learn how to upload images...
* The anatomy is bad, particulary the left upper arm, which is too long, and wobbly looking, and the blobby left hand reaching between her thighs.
* The Light Source(s) are inconsistent and poorly rendered. Where is the light coming from? The left? the right? Your brightest highlights are on her face and the side of her right lower leg...
* The wings are inconsistent in size, shape, color, and design...the only thing they have in common is the gold stripe around them...
* The hair is flat and funky. The three spikes on top add nothing to her personality, the scene she is in, her outfit, nothing. What is their purpose?
* The background isn't really anything. Neither is the dark shape she is hovering over.

I don't know the purpose behind this, but it is not really even a good Sketch. It doesn't tell the viewer anything, nor does it make the viewer really want to know much more. You will need to put some effort into making this more than just a "doodle."

The keywords you should focus on are:
Consistency
Anatomy
Value
Light Sources
