Howdy folks,

Just thought I'd venture out from the shadows and actually post something...

This is my feeble attempt at a Green Martian Warrior from Edgar Rice Burroughs Warlord of Mars series.

Crits are always welcome and appreciated.

Very nice martin. The double torso thing looks strange, but from what I can tell it looks "anatomically" correct.

Having never read the books, I'm not certain what the white stripe across the face is.

Also, I'm wondering if you airbrushed and then hand painted or did you hand paint the whole thing?

Again, great job.

Its stuff like this that makes me want to do sculpture. Excellent job, man. Whats this made out of? How big is the actual one?

Thanks All!! I really appreciate the feedback.

This guy stands a little over 18" and is made of SuperSculpey. The white stripe you see is actually a tusk which protrudes from the lower jaw (Edgar Rice Burroughs described them as being very white, so I chose to paint it that way as opposed to an ivory look, which I would have preferred). Also, the poor quality pic doesn't help much -- I'm working on getting that resolved.

The paint job was done by hand, though in re-thinking it, I should have airbrushed him -- would have gone a lot faster!

Kentucky -- On the torso, I had anatomical concerns when I first started the sculpt, because I wanted to make sure it worked in a realistic sense. So, I did this piece hollow with an underlying skeletal structure and then built up muscles over that. A little bit more time consuming, but I hope it paid off.

Mephisto -- Epic! Wow! Now that's cool.
Do realize you just set my mind to thinking on what can I do next.... :teeth:

Oh -- and a little update on the measurements: He's actually 26" tall (about 1/6th scale). I don't know I typed 18" before. :dur:

Thanks again for looking!

Wow! What a wicked sculpt...I always wondered if that character would work as a 3D sculpt - From what you did here it does work very well. All the accessory detailing looks good also especially the gun. Good job on this. :rendered:
