View Full Version : DSG 869: Character/Scene: YOUTH DISCOVERS THAT THEY CAN SHOOT ENERGY FROM THEIR HANDS

What we have here, really, is an "ORIGINS" moment of some future superhero or villain.

Maybe they're very young and in the sandbox... or maybe they're in their teens -- a typical time for such radical bodily changes...

Whatever is happening is new to the person it's happening to.

Perhaps the power has just appeared randomly, or as an after-effect of an alien abduction, or the young techie brain has just perfected her palm-beam gizmo, or - of course - maybe this is some emotionally-rooted physiological response to some external situation?

Just a quicky:
Little Jimmy decides to find out exactly what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning.

Baaaah!, that's so grotesque and yet so delightfully creative. Nice job. The other two so far are looking good, too. CrazyHarij, I can't say I really like the use of low-spacing brushes, but that's a stylistic thing, I suppose.

"Man, you take the cold fire shit, and your brain is like WOW! It's like you start floating and shit, and everything melts around you and shit, and if you got a glowing thing, it's like, shooting energy out of your hands and it's sooo cool"
painter, less then 30 I think

It was at this point Überman realized that bringing up his daughter wouldn't be as easy as he hoped.

Halfmonk Nice! I like your style and the way the little guys stands. He's funny.
Baaaah!Heh :D That's great!
CrazyHarij I like it though I have to say I like the face rendering much better than the rest of the body. I like the concept, he's a bad guy right?
Hamsta Funny, reminds me of high school ;) I like the darkness. It works well.
goran Excellent, very dynamic.
Yaso Kuuhl That's cute :) like The Incredibles

Edit to add: staylor We must have posted at the same time and I missed your pic the first time. I like the back lighting and the concept reminds me of Warren Peace from Sky High with the evil fire thing going on. I like the style.

Here's mine. I have to say I am unhappy with it and gave up halfway through. I burned out on it... but I did take your advice from yesterday, Hamsta, and tried to reflect and blend the colours more and make it not look so much like a piecemeal painting. I'll have to keep working on that.

Cool topic. Reminded me of Sky High - I loved that movie :)

tragically, this didn't end well for billy.

whilst discovering the power to emit energy propulsion beams from his hands
(albeit uncontrollably), he did NOT have the power to breath in the thin air,
of the frigid upper atmosphere and died a short 5 minutes after his powers awoke...

-amerasu, another good attempt. as you said, it could use some more time but it has promise. i like that the guu is a villain, but apparently has the "power to love".

-goran, looks like we had similar ideas, but i think your kid'll survive...

-baaaah!, i had entertained a similar idea but in a more "southerly region" :moon:

PurpleDingo99-Looks like he is going to grow up to be a disgruntled postal worker. The next time you post you should click on the little button under the size control that looks like a mountain with a yellow sky to have it show up on the post.
Mykro-cool energy effect
troyboy- I totally had an idea to do something like that. I like how the hair is flying everywhere.
Amerasu-cool concept of makeing into a love spell.
goran-killer as always. Sporting a serious harry potter feel to it.
Baaaah!-That's friggin tough. I'd say your is my favorite today.

Amerasu This could use some tightening, but overall I feel it has a sort of completness.
Your guy looks somewhat feminine, contrast within the characters could be higher (although the outside works very well in terms of focus) you lack ground shadows, and the poses are a bit bland.

PolinaH I'm happy you think it looks like a rave, it's supposed to be one ;)
