I think my ultimate favourite painter is Albert Edelfelt(my favourites changes likes socks but some remains ), its the perfect balance between impressionistic and realistic style, so here is my digitalstudy of his wonderful masterpiece that I love so much:

and update of Virginie, I already posted this somewhere else but forgot about this thread, with this comparison I realised the importance of using some sort of measurement in proportions versus starting to paint from the cold

yes I love him too, a lasting favourite artist of mine, not because of the origin but because he seriously rocks <3 (like I should tell that obvious thing)

Edelfelt fan here too. His portraits are nothing short of amazing. No wonder he was so sought after among the rich and the noble hehe. I missed the grand Edelfelt exhibition in Helsinki, Finland last spring :(

Nice study there. More more more :)

am now working on the oilpainting version of Virginie and here is the current stage where the first relatively thin layer of paint has completely dried, Im reluctant now wheather Im going to spoil this painting already because Im liking some of the natural impressionistic brushstrokes here and there, but its not complete so I have no choice than to go on with it, besides its a masterstudy so I have the right to make mistakes

Don't know original one, but your version looks fantastic, although I liked the digital version way more. The oil colours turned out, sort of muddy and less vibrant, hope you will be able to fix that, unless it was intended this way.
There's something wrong with her face, now, too. (too short, and too big eyes)
Am curious on how it will turn out like.
So long...

blacky it's just the first layer so it's not finished yet.
I'm looking forward to how this piece will develop. It looks nice already.

I didn't know Edelfelt so I just googled him. And I like him a lot!!
Good luck!
