View Full Version : Wise Old Woman of the Forest

She is centuries old, so old in fact that the forest is now the only source of her strength. She sees things we never could, far beyond physical sight. She knows things we cannot comprehend. So close the forest is she, that her body has adapted many of it's features to her own. A recluse in every sense of the word, especially in these trying times. One must travel far into the vast uncharted regions of the forest she calls home to find her.

What material you use to make your skulptures?
I've been trying to find a good sculpting material for ages. Something which is easy to foam and doesn't requre a enormous oven to dry.

Cool sculpture by the way!

Severith- Thank you, and I am very glad you love it. My imagination is weird sometimes, but It's very gratifying to see it brought to life in front of me.:)

MindCandyMan- Thanks man, I haven't seen ya in one of my topics in a while. Glad you like it. I'm still pluggin' away. ;)

Artin- Thanks, and what I use is a modelling clay called Super Sculpey. Check your local art's and crafts stores.

Yeah I haven't posted as much recently as I did before. Your stuff is getting a lot cleaner scotty. It's looking good man. I would take the plunge and start doing some full body sculpts so you can start practicing that. Stuff looks great.

I concur, and will try focusing more on full-body sculpts. It been frustrating lately. I don't really know where to go from here. I mean, I wanna do this for a living, but, HOW? hahaha Anyone out there with advice on how to get into whatever business I can get into with what I do? Should I just keep doing what I'm doing and hope someone sees it that matters in the industry, or what? These and other questions and ponderings are what run through my head daily. I mean, what would you guys do if your could do this?:)

I don't want to speak for Jason but I know he has a friend that sculpts for McFarlane Toys so you might want to ask Jason about it. Perhaps he can tell you what route to take. I would assume it's kind of the same as any concept art related job...just build up your resume and then send it to every toy company known to man.

khangle81- I've already baked her, so more creases are impossible. Thank you however for pointing that out...I guess it COULD use a bit more there.:) Nice to have outside views on it.

theognis- I saw the EP2 stuff you are mentioning. Very cool stuff. Right up my alley.;)

that super sculpee stuff is really different looking. It looks kinda transparent and the way it catches light makes it look not like "clay"
