In the heat of me recieving my a5 on about Friday, what is it like to have a Wacom Intuos3 when digitally doing work? I would imagine it'd give you boosted inspiration just painting with such a marvel? :}

Intuos 3 died on the cross for your sins and koolaid. Intuos 3 got his name when he built three Eiffel towers, each better than the last, in a single day. Intuos 3 has aids, but that doesn't stop him because his sperm swim to fast for aids to catch them. Intuos 3 has a little black book so large it has a international metropolis lodged somewhere between M and R. Intuos 3 cornered the gold market, but gave it back because he had the first interstellar trip to Alpha Centauri on his schedule.
Perhaps, someday we might even know even more of Intuos 3's triumphs so we can bask in his glory all the more.

Erm...
Didn't think the question was THAT stoopid.
An Intuos3 is a great bit of kit. But it's only a tool. It's like having a Derwent graphic pencil instead of an Asda 13p one. It DOESN'T make you draw, or paint, better. It just means you don't get annoyed at how rubbish your tablet is all the time.
I wouldn't exactly call it inspirational, either. Using a tablet is never as 'nice' as using a real paintbrush. It's just a lot quicker, a lot cleaner, and it has an undo button...
A good museum - THAT's inspiration. A good tool just lets you do what you were trying to do from the start anyway.
Take care

See my thread... (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47175&highlight=intuos3)
I'd sleep with it under my pillow if I could. Someone once told me "If you love it so much why don't you marry it!"... We've set a date for next spring.

any tablet is better than using a mouse by far. Intuos2 or intuos3, it doesn't make a real difference which one you use. I'll warn you though, they're preschool toys compared to a cintiq. Don't ever let someone lend you theirs for a day, because they'll give you the gift of life, and then take it away again. Using a wacom tablet will be impossible after that, just like going from a tablet back to a mouse. Then you'll hate yourself for spending $2500 on a freakin' monitor, but you won't have a choice because you can't go back to using macpaint after knowing the power of photoshop/painter. Your life will be decided. You will be very poor but happy.
Are tablets good? Read the other threads. If you have a choice, don't ever use the mouse for art again. There is no good reason when tablets are everywhere. And if you're gonna get a tablet, go ahead and get at least a 6x8 (I recommend 9x12). Your hand will thank you.

The biggest mistake you could have with getting a tablet is thinking that it will make you an artist. It will pobably exacerbate your weaknesses by 10 fold.

If you're at all serious about your art, I wouldn't recommend it.

It's just a tool. A pen's a pen. I looked at the pricing, and the features. The extra stuff didn't seem to matter, so if you think there's a grave difference, please explain :P

I thought it was particularly funny. I would have gone for the "it's like Rachael Hunter buttering your toast, like Oprah Winfrey asking for a loan, or Jonny Quest living vicariously through you", but the idolization of Wacom 3 is probably better.

Smoother tracking, more levels of pressure, tilt support...if you're serious, it makes a massive difference.
