But i am irritated by the last two covers (wizards & warriors, Breakthru)...i mean there are no special characters you would recognize like Super Mario or Batman...how could you revamp/redesign a character with no special attributes or recognition clues...

Ok, i was like nine at the time but man that is a great game!

I lately saw the C64 game 'Bruce Lee' emulated. In my memory it had like these cool lifelike colorful graphics... the reality was that i saw three moving pixels -- the mind is a wonderful thing!

dinosaur age? wow I feel old..

Anyway, I think we have the real world examples of not just metroid but metal gear solid, rygar, contra shattered soldier, shinobi, and ninja gaiden to prove that this is indeed a timely and good thunderdome for concept artists. I just realized this looking at all these awesome game covers.. :)

Man oh man! I didn;t remember the covers for some of those games being so BOOTY!! That original megaman cover makes me wince every time I look at it...

Another game that can be redesign : Street Fighter(who do not know Blanca? ;)), Day of the Tentacle(I will DOMINATE THE WORLD... raaaaah, long i've not see the intro :D), Monkey Island(Guybrush Threepwood...), Mortal Kombat(erhmm, it can be usefull if you wanna work on the 6 games uh uh)...
Those guy we will probably never forget too! (Yeah long time PC gamer for me :D)

Uhmm, one last for the road : Duke Nukem :D

i remember the first time i saw that game Shadow of the beast on a pc in a computer store. I just about shit myself--i had only seen 8-bit graphics on my NES. and this thing was pumping like 32 bits--and it was really cool--it had crazy characters and environments---i was bloooown away
