Wow, first post, good deal. It's woman, and I don't really like it, but it got me thinkin, and broke me outta my shell a little. I need major creature practice. Billy B, how bout some tuts on how you paint, it fascinates the hell outta me, and I can't seem to catch some of the nuance and texture. Maybe I just need practice.

Mykro-Practice yes, you forgot to shade under her neck. There are some nice bits I can see working, esp the shadow accross her arm and her clevage. Nice for a first post, please continue to post, it is evident you have much to offer and will benifit from the practice.

Bleh, I despise faces, mine end up looking like mush...
I just wanted to say I'm sorry I wasn't on yesterday, it was because my room is being redecorated and I had to help out. I'm not leaving, not for a long time.
Anyways, on to drawing...

ok, got bored, went at it again. Like this one better. Rob: Thanks for the crits, yeah, I know about the shadow, I redid the mandibles like 6 times, so I just said forget it. Oh, and I've posted lots, I meant first post of the day. I rarely get on it that fast. I must be in a manic phase...

Hauptmann Maxillae was an officer and a gentleman in the Prussian Army, with a number of victories under his name. Unfortunetly he had some trouble with tea. :P

Because I suck with painting, I decided to make the sketch in 3D, if you don't mind. Doodled in ZBrush for half an hour:

It started off more mandible-y, but this just ran away with me.

Please excuse my lack of coloring. It's totally kicking my @ss. Evil.. evil color. Arm anatomy is quite off as well...

finally an attempt at coloring...

I feel like I'm just wandering around while I color without intent... just sort of stumbling into lucky strokes.

This is a tough one. Everyone seems to be meeting the challenge though.
Missed the last couple of days. I went a little experimental on this one.

Man, everyone pulled out all the stops on this one.
Too many to comment on all, but here’s a few:
Simmi: Very cool. He kinda reminds me of Modok.
Calader: I like it. I like it a lot.
Dreckster: Nothing wrong with comic style if it looks that good.
Justin W: Nice character development. Gotta love a well dressed bugman.
Treehugger: Wild concept. Kinda like “What if Don Quixote evolved from insects”.
William b. Hand: Sheesh! Is that the best you can do?:)
Good job everybody!

The proportions, the shape of the head and pretty much everything else is FUBAR, but I'm still pretty satisfied since I've never before been able to paint a face with a skintone that actually resembles human skin to some degree. :teeth:

A lot of "ugly" stuff going on! :\ the hairy stuff is naaasty!!
Good work! :confident
William b. Hand: wow you shade/render like a king!
Oregano: That`s predator! nice, feel sorry for the guy thoug!
Books: cool linework, the colour part looks "fast" but nice! :\
goran: looks like some guy from darkcity!
Eriboss: Corpse bride... "man im seeing many movie resembling concepts today.:nohope:" Very cool!
CrazyHarij: Nice!you should try with some more saturation(stronger color/hue) in the dark parts of the skin tone, since skin has less saturated higlights and more saturated shadows.
Read this somewhere, and i belive its true! :bashful:
