Im so tired of this book by jeno barcsay, while it has some great drawings
etc it really doesnt go any deeper as in showing how to construct the pieces.
Loomis seems great but are there any others? Have been looking for a bridgeman book for some time just cant seem to find one, is it worth the search?

www.saveloomis.org has Loomis' books online, you can also search for PDF files.

Also, its seldom that 1 book is enough for reference, you often need a few, I myself use no less than 3 or 4.

Just do a seach at amazon and go through the previews of the pages to see one you like, Hogarth, Bridgman are all great.

btw - if it "seems" great, then I'd make a bet you haven't actually studied it.

It IS great, so study it.

There are at least 3 threads about this topic on page 1 right now ! *grin*

But I'll drop you some names : Bridgman, Goldfinger, Richer, Peck.
All different and very worth having IMHO. I haven't spend much time with Peck yet, so I can't really say if you need it if you got the other 3.

Cyclopedia Anatomicae (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=By2mC1ZBgl&isbn=0760761833&itm=1): best $9.99 I've ever spent. 600 pages of human and animal anatomy. It used to be a $40 book but now that BN publishes it you can get it for $10.

I have that jeno barcsay one too. I'll probably get rid of it.

I've found Loomis and Burne Hogarth to be both invaluable, and between the two (having all their books), there is not much else you need to know....I've mainly studied Hogarth, but he has a "dynamic" series of books....cover the head, hand, anatomy, general figure drawing, light and shade and also dynamic folds....good stuff and very easy to understand...

Yeah, I had just bought it used for $20 a couple days ago, then yesterday I saw it for ten. The older versions are printed with a little better clarity but you definitely get your money's worth out of the $10 version. I wanted to return the used one but I can't find the receipt so I guess I'll return the new one :[ .
