As has been said but with a lot more short hand, great stuff!!
These (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/tuchten2/tuchten%20begins/Scan10133.jpg) loose ones are wonderful!
The orange from this one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/tuchten2/tuchten%20begins/bl.jpg) detracts from your really nice choice of colours because it's so different. I thinks it's just too far away from your chosen range.

Good stuff here man tuchten, you have some great designs. Your enviros are really cool, i like them.
The things i dont like are pobably your characters, you have some good design and stuff but i think alot of them are lacking proper propotions and look very funny, you defintly need to do studies and work on this. The same applie to your faces, you similar to me, being that faces seem to be your main weakness. The proportions seem funny on some, and feature placement isnt perfect either. Proper human studies will help u immensly here.
I like some of your paintings, the colours are great but your use of the small brush comes off really scratchy and sketchy. Trying workin with a bigger brush to get a better flow of colours etc.. dont sort of shade in the one colour, like you would do with a pencil, The ones with the large fuzzy paint brushes would be an excellent start, the colours and composition look great. Work in the details from here gradually, not jumping straight to the small bruishes and they would look immmense.
This said though, i think uve improved greatly from your first post. Looks like all your work is paying off.
Great job, looking forward to seing more improvments.

PHATandy. Thanks? are you for real? Not to throw away your critique here but. Do you really think that this stuff comes likes news to me? And there is something odd about telling me these things when you are far from half as experienced as i am. You have seen my stuff, and you probably know that one almost always is familiar with ones flaws. I know what i have to work with.
"Trying workin with a bigger brush to get a better flow of colours etc.."

Hi,
you did some very cool character designs in your whole thread. Well balanced and interesting. That's good work. I prefer your drawn stuff, not to much the digital rendered, because those are not as fine and detailed as the pencil character designs.

Sry if your thought my comments were stupid and biased but im just trying to throw in my opinnion.
Your say this as if your a professional, how am i supposed to now this.. for all i know you could be my age.
From what ive seen of your art, i thought all your stuff was really great. Im just trying to throw in My Opinnions, which i thought you might appreciate, apparently i was wrong in thinking u might be nice and appreciate these oppinions. I do really like alot of your stuff and your could be really great if you improve on these areas.
Sorry again if you think im just being a prick and insulting you by picking up on some areas i immediatly thought was lacking compared to the rest in my eye.
Alot of tlk on this forums is just ass kissing in terms of art(acceptable in most cases), id like to think that even the pros (like yourself ? )would like some critique on lacking areas etc.
Maybe i was wrong...

September 23rd, 2005, 01:56 PM
i would recommend working on your anatomy some more, just like phat mentioned. your gestures need some more work too i think. you've got some cool design choices going on here but the akward poses of the legs and feet throw off the drawing as a whole. your enviro's are good tho, as well as your mechanical stuff. keep it up. and try not to take criticism so harshly man, it comes with the territory. if you don't like what someone says, don't attack them and thier work. some people never get critiques that in depth. that should be treasured, not tossed back in thier face. peace out
vigostar
September 23rd, 2005, 02:13 PM
tuchten- Hey dude... You have some nice works here.. I really like the last enviro on the last page and last set of characters.. they look less cluttered.. But, I must say that your attitude stinks... If your one to not care for opinions because you think you have everything under control then you should state it in your thread.. in large bold print... I HATE CRITS SO DONT LEAVE ME ANY!!!.. This is a forum where artists from all walks of life come to share and hopefully improve by beig in a sort of classroom environment where we feed of eachother and their crits... The remark you made about Phat being not even half an artist as you really stunk up this nice thread.. There are artists on this forum like DSillustration, Fellah, Lewiston, Hurricane and many others that are on top of their game and when you leave them a comment or crit they listen and are happy to hear your opinion.. I guess being a good artist doesn't you have a good attitude also.. Too bad..
tuchten
September 23rd, 2005, 05:10 PM
I am sorry. :(
I wich to say this to phatandy and everyone that took my statement as negative. I really have a problem with critique. Maybe this should be at the top o my tread, Il put it there later. I wasnt my intension to act bad or make a big thing out of this. I just coudnt keep it in me. Can anyone understand this? Sorry again for being to most insensitvite artist around.
to my defense:
in my way of looking at this, and analysing my reaction afterworth i have notised a few things..There are, as everybody know, many ways of giving qritique. Was I the only one who felt it to be in a rather disturbing and offensive way? Also, one must consider the need for critique of this kind. Was it well placed and needed? Did i work only with what i am best at forgetting about the struggle? I have in a 3 week period showed extremely many quick studies to get better feeling for anathomy. I also have been doing alot och portrait practising and human studies. Man, I havent been doing nothing but studies almost! To me its like showing up at a gym and telling another man to keep up the work, your looking fat. I am practising, and this kind of talk doesnt help me out.
I didnt say i was a pro, im not. But I do find it strange that the (until now) only person commenting this things is phatandy. (who is doing great for his age but cannot match me with years and thus lacks my experience)
strange? mentler, who is probably one of the artists in this place with most dedication to anathomy didnt comment it. In fact he saw value in my loose and quick sketches. I know its the way for me.
Sure i could sitt 5 minutes longer with each sketch making it more "perfect".
But i wouldnt be tuchten. I put feeling over perfection and i will continue to do so.
to sort out different word that got loaded wrong:
vigostar. "The remark you made about Phat being not even half an artist as you really stunk up this nice thread" He is probably a better artist as he can give and take crit witout problem.. I stated a mere differense in age and experience. Coming from someone else this critique may have been met differently i confess. I underestimate Andys ability to know wich brushes best for me, how i should work differently, and what i need to work with to become perfect.
"for all i know you could be my age" hmm. i dont know if i can melt this down. I just dont think so. sorry :[
I really apologize for my rude behavior. I appreciate all of your support people. I hope a havnt turned you down for good. I think one of the main resons i have problem taking critique is that i push myselfe so hard, that when anyone else puts in a finger and points, it becomes salt in my wounds. THIS is something that i really have to work with. :\ So again. Sorry Phatandy and everyone who got upset about this. Hope you can understand my point of view (atleast a bit) and that we can get passed this debate and focus on my work again.
to top this I would like to bring you a collection of different studies. (this is insensitive i know ;) )
and now to come clean:
DONT CRIT ME ON THESE THINGS, THEY ARE YEARS OLD!!

Thanks for the kind reply tuchten, thanks for the hidden comments aswell.
It seems a bit more obvious about the comments, especialy with all these studies. Its quite obvious how much youve been working.. and have improved.
On a side note, i think all the hand studies are real kick ass here.
In with your comments about perfection, i understand your feeling behind perfection, and not wanting to get it.
But there is a difference between perfection, looking good... and just noticably un studied and so on.
I think you dont have to be perfect to be able draw realistic faces that fit in with your style. You can still keep your 'tuchten' style as you like to call it, without being perfect and a completly realistic drawing. But atm, i think and you probably know that it still needs 'some' work.
Just my 2 cents.
Looking forward to more updates, as believe it or not i think some of your work is pretty good, esp your enviros and techy stuff.
Andy.

I'm glad you're understanding better now. In this thread I don't think the crits were harsh at all, and personally I don't mind harsh crits, the harsher the better in many cases, as long as it doesn't deface the artist's charcacter (which wasn't present here). Keep in mind friends and family are often biased, and plces that are full of artists struggling to to improve will be far less likely to really crit anything. And the last thing: Even the worst artists in the world can crit something; just because he can't do better, doesn't mean he can't see better,
Oh yeah, your last batch of art posted had some really nice studies. I especially like the hand and feet ones.

awesome new update, dude!!!
I am currently studying your stuff especially all your enviros and roboter sketches and digital paintings. Since I am studying a lotlotlot of human anatomy I am neglecting all this stuff like enviros and mechs. I want to change that and since in my opinion this is one of the best threads arround here including stuff like that and since I belong to the sort of guys who hate drawing something without knowing how it actually works, I decided to study some of your stuff.
In short words : Your stuff is damn ass-kicking keep up the great work, so that dudes liek me can keep learning :) (Btw: why the fucking hell has this thread only 4 stars ??? )

I think you would sometimes be able to spice those environments up if you used another colored light source in them. Most of the time they seem a little monochromatic.

Hello, tuchten. You know all your work could be great for representing a heavy metal music. I don't know, I hear the sounds of it every time I look at your art, maybe you soaked it up or I might be crazy. Maybe both :).The orange painting is great. It inspires me to stand up and break something (just kidding), no, do something, make some breakthrough. Thank you so much for this push to fight.

Cool stuff there man,
I love the way you contrast with values, adds real interest.
maybe you could try to shape bigger parts more. you seem to build up depth and shape step by step using small 'ramps'.
Be more free and shade whole parts at once.
The bumps add interest but make it look noisy.
you can also try to connect these bumps together so they become flatter and softer. less noisy

Tuchten, you art and you are huge source of energy, you knock me off my feet every time I look at your imagination and performance. Could your draw your self portrait, please? I'm extremely curious how all this impulse got its way in your own features. Really see you with very round from excitement eyes and jumping eyebrows. Actually, this is how I look when I'm in your thread :).
Awesome, unbelievable powerful art. God, I always feel so grateful when I see a real talent. Just feel so obliged, wish I could give you something, some medal, or a race car :). Oh well.
Everything is my favorite, everything carries great energy in it, even little castles. They are static and silent, but lines re strong and very confident. Love your characters, they are very wild and very alive. Everything breathing, moving, fighting and living its own independent, wild life. So cool.
Thank you so much
