Decided to give this sketchbook thing a whirl. I have lots of paper sketches, but unfortunately no scanner or digi camera handy, so its all digital sketches and WIPS until then. Give me a few weeks or so...

Anyways, just looking for some feedback, and the idea of having an online log of my skill progress is pretty damned cool.

Welcome to CA. The first no ref pic is pretty good. The shoulder is bit too exaggerated. When you say all digital sketches you mean with a mouse? That mech is pretty cool. Just keep working on your anatomy. Maybe when you get your scanner we'll have to see how your work is there. Right now your lines are broken and hazy. You want to keep your lines smooth and deliberate. Hope you post more.

nice sketches still kinda rough though try cleaning them up a bit i never sketch on myu wacom i think ill give that a shot noice studies of the arm the hand looks a little small but the robot is killer.

Darkchild: Thanks man, appreciate the welcome and the post. If you think my linework is bad now, you should have seen it a few months ago. I have been really trying to get it less sketchy and more confident...I feel like I have made some strides, but I still have a LONG way to go.

Twisted: I like sketching on the WACOM, believe it or not. I like the lack of friction, and I also think it is good practice for using the WACOM in general, so I try to sketch on paper and digitally. The hand and arm studies are all no ref, so some of em look pretty terrible, but I feel like I am improving on anatomy, slowly.

Some nice studies there, good to see you working the foundations, they are very very important.

Just remember as you are doing your studies, observation is 80% of the work you do, understand in your mind how atmospheric phenomenon affect things, how light carves an object from the darkness, how the shadow binds all things together and so on.

Study hard.
