nice pencil rendering.

the animal studies are my favorites. they seem to have the most "life" as a drawing.

i think the rope in the orangutan pic could use some more "ropelike" texture.

keep going.

mehran
September 3rd, 2005, 01:45 AM
thanks SOLORPOWER... I strted out in comics and than slowly moved into trad-art , I like to blend them both together to the extent that the comic look stays a bit dominent on the trad-art rendering techniques,...A couple of years back I couldn't even draw more than 2 or 3 poses of a man... And now NOW I can make "4" :)
Prehistoric: thnx man I like drawing animals too specially birds and mammals... and that thing about the "hairy-Monkey".. I will try to fix it...
Here is an enviornment I did. The idea was to blend bones and metal and machinery together..it was intended to be the Start-up screen of a personal video game project..

hey your traditional art studies are really nice, like someone said earlier, theyll pay off in the long run.......speaking of which, i think im gonna start and work on the basics again as well......good job

Magic Man
September 4th, 2005, 01:41 AM
Some nice stuff, but I will still highly recommend going and working the foundations as I said in the previous, you need to take that next level up or else you will become stunted and bored.

These are great. My favorite is the start up screen picture. My only criticism would be the use of a dark outline against realistic shading on the orangutang and the girl with the head wrap. The two styles just don't belong together. I've seen it done by other artists, maybe it's a fad. Why is it done?

OBX
September 4th, 2005, 02:38 AM
Wild sketches dude. Love the crazy contrast in ur drawings... shading is nicely done. welcome.

mehran
September 4th, 2005, 02:49 AM
Thanx for the replies people : I needed that... :)
draw: thanx ...I am not a fan of anime myself but for some odd reason people always say that my stuff looks like Anime.. :upset:

Videodragon: thanx buddy....I have saved those tuts on to my disk and will definately follow them in a day or two..

sajad126: thanx man ...looking forward to see some studies from you too..

Magic Man: Sure thing !! ALL the stuff above are oldies.. I just wantd to show everyone some of my best stuff...But am doing regular sketching nowadays and most of the time it's anatomical and propotional studies..

armando: well I do that with almost all of my drawings...But you are right, use of a hard outline with trad-shading does look odd, but only when you are making stuff like children, flowers and other things that have certain amount of tenderness to them. On the other hand I can't agree with you over the "hairy-monkey"... the out lines ARE there but they don't tend to be prominent enough to be noticed...

Wow. I like your style. I love animal sketches and paints. Just finished a polar bear bear scene on the water so opening up this and seeing the silverback, etc was awesome.

Keep going!

Edited to add:

Haha! Caught you posting. :) Nice work, again.

It's not boring. I'm interested in knowing how and what other people are studying. On the woman with the cape the legs look flat, lines around the knees should overlap. The pose looks awkward, like her torso's staying still but her legs are trying to walk. Is there a specific book or something you're using to study the face?

Edit: "is this getting boring" , crap were you refering to "fire at will"?

definatley get into some more active peices. looks great. your peices and technique really evolve.

Sorry for the late reply people..Been really busiy with my Training..

Armando: Yes buddy.. i was referrng to the line " fire at will"... Lemme know If it gets boring...(I cuz I just LOVE typing that line)
On the girl wit the cape....Thanx I 'll remember that the next time I draw a girl. it was intended to be a speed sketch(and with out any reference) ..I guess I don't have the... "Minerals"... to draw a good female body ..Yet!!
But I will...tobe hones I was making a standing pose than ..I dunno something
happend and I Ended up with what you on your monitor screen right now.
really didn't learnt much

about the facial studies...I am using loomis for Artistic Insides into "how to do(s)" of human anatomy..Apart from that I am using anything that I can get my hands on. Would love it if you would point me towards some good online resources.

Azeira: Thanx ...I will definately get into some more active peices..
------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
I will try to post some work into this post ..Don't havethe scanner at office right now..so I 'll have to wait till I get home...
thnx agian and stay tuned

You can go ahead and keep writing "fire at will", everyone needs a catchphrase. Sorry but I don't know of any online sources for anatomy besides saveloomis.org that everyone knows about, almost all online tutorials are crap. Personally I don't really like Loomis for anatomy, lots of cats rave about him like there on an infomercial, I'm expecting to here someone tell about how he saved their marriage and helped them quit booze. The book I'm using now is "Figure Drawing" by Richard G. Hatton, bought it on amazon.com for $1.50!

mehran
September 18th, 2005, 03:57 AM
Armando: Don't mind If I do...
About loomis..Am going to work out of loomis for at least a month...but as I am going to use other online refs for anatomical study..
And Thanks for pointing out that book
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

:tihi: Ha ha, I could tell that was Stone Cold before I read the description, so it's a pretty successful drawing, his nose is a little small though. I thought the bandanad guy was Macho Man Randy Savage.
