you see that.. very good start.. that lion looks great and Abe Lincoln looks like abe!!! a couple of pointers... you have been obviously using reference.. when using reference take a couple of minutes and really analyze the picture or ref. your using... look at how certain parts relate to another.. for instance... the distance of the lion nose to where his mane starts... or how large are his teeth in comparison to his eyes or his nose... How large is his mouth opening?? is it half the size of his face?? What shapes to these different parts resemble??? the nose-- a triangle?? the shape of the head and egg?? the shape if his eyes diamonds??? try to analyze the picture or ref as much as possible before you start... the more information you brani captures the more refined detail you'll put down on paper... if you were to do this same drawing everyday for two weeks. you'll notice certain things change and certaing things will keep constant... for instance... on the second day you did this same drawing the teeth came out slightly different, on the third the eyes came out different but, you did the teeth the same... this has to do with your brain acknowledging your ref. from memory and therefore seeing smaller differences in a specific place and noticing something else on another.... Also, this will help you immensely when your trying to create and object or whatever ref. and keeping the proportions are target.. which is a difficult thing to do... when I said that abe looks like abe, that wasnt supposed to be a joke.. i was serious.. if you were to take the writing of you saying its abe lincoln im sure everyone would know who that person is... thats because his proportions are correct and his majot facial features are spot on... you'll become mor refined as time passes... The important thing I feel at this point is to keep on drawing... and think while you draw... think about how to make a certain shape, look like the shape in a 3-d aspect or in a 2-d aspect... in what direction does my line have to go to make this round??? in what direction does this line have to go to make the shadow look realistic... this is tidious at first but, with experience and knowledge it starts to become second nature.. good luck...

Glad to see you've started up a sketchbook here!
I think Abe is your strongest work so far, partially because the likeness is the best out of your other drawings and also because you paid attention to your forms and shadows. The chick is also very nice, because you overlapped your forms (the head and body) to make it look three dimensional. Nice work breaking it down into basic shapes!
Work like this is MORE than promising and your parents would do well to get you enrolled in some art courses!
*tries to think of some art books he might enjoy*
I'll check in with you again!

NO WAY you're 11!!! Even if you used ref material, that is freakin' amazing... you keep that up and... I don't know what, but that is just... great.
That opoinion is obviously so high only because you're 11... if you were 15, like me, I'd still say that's good, but not great. However, keep practising and you'll be a MONSTER at drawing...

we need to start a stupidly young artist's club. i'm thirteen today, so i'm not as young as you but i'm still a very young artist.
nice work, if you've only begun drawing. so why did you decide to go into art in the first place?
p.s are you eleven going on twelve or have you had you're birth day already?
p.p.s you 've got an extra g at the end of begginings.

Hi SilverCossak, welcome to CA.
Looks like you have a nice little cross section of different types of art here, which is always great to see, since it will mean your work is less likely to stagnate after a while and its marvelous work for someone who is 11.
I'd definitely first start by working the foundations however, it will give structure to your work, learn about anatomy first since it is both the hardest and imo most rewarding thing to learn about, the human body is extremely rediculously complex, learning its functions, form and its components will be great training for creating great characters and in the future machinery, since the human body can be looked at like an organic machine.
Study hard, m.

Nice start:) Therefore that you started drawing 4 moth ago it's not bad and I know that it can be very hard to learn new techniques or anatomy stuff etc.
It's very important that you look up for good references and it's very helpfull to have some anatomy and figure drawing books.
And the most important thing is: Never stop drawing:)
Keep it up and you'll become better and better!!
