Thanks. I sold a bunch of the first series of heads to some painters. I'll post up their paintjobs when I get them. The battle orcs will be the second series.

Dude, checked out your site and was blown away,I've been doing product sculpts in mexico but nothing close to your magic.
I really admire your work bro.You really give your sculpts life.
I love the orcs ,can't wait to see the painted pics.
what scale/size are they?
What medium did you use?
any advice on getting into the prototype industry you'd like to share?

6thSun - Thanks for looking. The orcs are 1/6th scale (size of a Gi Joe doll head). I finish all my work in a toy wax called Azbro and cast everything in resin.
Advice for getting into the prototype industry:
Get a website to showcase your work. I found that a virtual portfolio is better than mailing packets which tend to get lost or chucked in the garbage.
The more versatile you are the more work you'll probably get. If you just put cartoony styled sculpts on your site that's probably the only work you'll get. Show your range and you client base will be bigger.
I hope that shed some light on your questions. Will you be posting some of your work anytime soon? This is a great place for feedback.

honestly this isnt an ork.
if u want what an ork is really supposed to be check out warhammer or woW orks.
this is more of a vampire type of thing, btw when u paint maybe u shud change ur mind about painting him as an ork, and go for an undead vampire look??
very good work.

Manslaughter - I'm familiar with Warhammer orcs but what are wow orcs? Got any links to view these?
This is a vampish undead creature in progress:

Nonsense, orc's don't exist and as such don't have any 'supposed' look. The lack of imagination of companies copying the look of each other's fantasy creatures does not mean it's the only way.
By wow orc I'm sure he means World of warcraft.

Your orc has a great sculpt and I really like the design for the helmet.
I like how the vampire thing is coming along, he has a lot of rage in his expression.

I really ,really like this undead creature.
The thing about orcs is everybody sees the work in the LOTR and miniature games like Warcraft or warhammer and assumes they need to go for a certain look. truth is you can put a helmet on a almost anything with ovesized fangs and call it an orc as long as he's got armor.
Both pics look amazing!!. They'll be even better when they're painted, especially considering the size. :needle:

6thSun - thanks again. I'm dying to see the first series of sculpts painted too. Soon...soon...
Possesed - thanks for posting that image of the WOW orcs. I have seen those before. I also thought orcs, goblins, and trolls came in all shapes, styles and sizes...?
As for the helmet on the top orc I may carve some more designs/patterns or something on it...it seems a bit plain right now.

Blasphemy! What about the oroginal Tolkien orc? Bred from corrupted elves. This means anything goes, as long as its basically humanoid.
And Goblins, they are malicious spirits who can have beast heads, skin of any colour and be any size from tiny to huge.
Warhammer and Wow orcs are of a certain design schhol, but you cant have them in red or yellow or grey or even pink. Im sure orcs come in all colours.

I meant to say that these sculpts are great. The helmets are well cool and the textures are well done.

manslaughter honestly you dont know what you are on about,
if he says it's an orc it's an orc dont tell him what his
work is supposed to be, tolkien created the things so orcs should in fact resemble elves instead of big fat green things with massive tusks, the orcs you are thinking of are just stylised versions that ppl have come up with.
no hard feelings, you deviantart enemy!
lol :}

Hey Glodmane,
Really impressive sculpt and aint job. I really love the way you created the skin textures; it's so good in fact that you wouldn't wanna touch the guy in case: a.) You'd catch some horrible disease. b.) He'll f**k you up! Well done man.
And another thing, it's a great interpretation of an orc. I'm a huge Lord Of The Rings fan as well and I've created zillions of sketches of what an orc would look like in my own weird imagination. But it's always cool to see how many other artists create their own versions.
Excellent work mate! Looking forwad to seeing more stuff.

Great work GoldMane!!
They look hideous!! (in a good way)
I thought they were Life-sized before I read through the thread. The detail you put into them is amazing. I also like how different each one is from the other. As with people, orcs come in all shapes and sizes as well.
The Paintjobs are awesome. I like how the second one has the markings on its forhead and chin.
Your work is very inspiring. To get detail like that in something that size is unbelievable!!
Thanks for posting them, Can't wait to see the next one!!

DreamersEye - I'd love to see some of your orc art interpretations. I'm sure they'd be kick ass.
SolitaryMan - Thanks man! I would probably suck at lifesize stuff as I've never done anything that big. I've always loved the mini stuff especially toys with scaled down detailing.
These are all just practice pieces.
Here's the unpainted versions:
