That picture is so amazing! I don't think contrast is needed, it gives a mysterious feeling to it. ;)

When the first Utter-Lily (ask davi) washed ashore the beach-combers were shocked at it's size... Then they realized something tried to eat this beast...

-took about 2 hrs in phshp.
i used a color reference for the beach (which helped alot).
i think mine is a giant sea slug that lures fat/tacky beach-goers into it's stomach with a friendly looking lure. >:D

Tons of great stuff today guys! Wow!
Kapturowski:Cthulu was the first thing that came to my mind too. That's one heckuva squid you got there.
Eriboss:I thought your pic was awesome. Simple, but solid. Also, I really enjoyed its quirkiness... made me laugh.
Patzon:you sure started this thread out strong. That's a hard post to follow. I really liked the perspective and distance. It really shows that that's a massive beast.
I'll try to get this one in tonite (well... actually it'll be tomorrow before I manage to upload it).

-goran, i like yours. nice & moody....btw, are those pilgrims?
-zoeli, i like the technique you used. is that digital or traditional paints? it's sort of cute (like a pokimon or somethin.....or maybe i'm just weird)
-another one i liked was miss wiggle's, but i'm not really reading creature washed up on beach. instead it looks more like devotees worshiping a giant sculpted god head? but i still like it regardless!

Yeah, I kind of figured I was amiss in the theme after seeing everyone elses. In my mind it fits, but how I rendered it doesn't exactly show that it was washed up. :b Oh well, win some, lose some.

After I drew it I thought that it really looked like a guy then a sea beast. By that time I figured I'd roll with it. It took me all day.

AtomicSushi - You are my idol, I have no idea how you got your water that spot on.
patdzon- Awesome first post, keep it up.
kapturowski - That's totally rad. You should bless us with a post more often.
Yaso Kuuhl-Squish, That funny as hell. Good drawing
goran-I like how you got the fence in the forground. Sort of looks like they poked the thing in the eye with a spear.
Sgt.DeadMeat-Your robot is cool. I was wondering what that thing in the water was, and then I figured it out that it was a ship. :} It seems like you could crop a lot off of the top to make it a better compositon.

wooo thats looking great Bill, nice effect on the sand, and the waves look real nice back there with the blur, maybe the foreground could be a weee bit sharper, but don't wanna lose them sexy reflections. the beasty itself is super, reminds me of a "tremor" and maaan, they were great!
hehe, cool!
great work everyone else, lots of goodies and a couple of new participants too :D

William, that is absoulutley AMAZING!
And once I get my jaw off the floor, I'll tell you why...
The texture is wonderful, you could almost reach out and touch it. The shading is brilliant, and the veins on the creature are so tiny! Magnificent, and I will run out of words describing how good it is!

Here's mine guys... sorry, day late again. Like I said, no internet at home.
After "discovering" the creature on the beach, the couple just couldn't resist taking some pictures of themselves with it. Unfortunately, they were so busy with what they were doing that they didn't notice when the Haz-Mat team arrived to "clean up" until it was too late...
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b246/kingcoyote/Adsg_855.jpg
This probably took me about forty-five minutes. I thought breifly about adding colour, but I was kind of strapped for time.
