I have no idea what to expect of this one, but I am intrigued with the idea of wood extensions more involved than, say, a pirate's peg-leg.

Hmm... Some pirate with complex limb replacement, maybe...
See? Even there, an unexpected concept has already poked it's head up.
What if Star Trek BORG had wooden eye pieces like crazy tinker-toys?
He he... What if Pinnochio wasn't turned fully into a boy, but only mostly?

See?? I think there's some meat on this one.

These wood legs always pull itself to backward with its mechanism...so to move it the guy only needs to pull one of the ropes...then another...then another... :blahblah:

Known as the "Porch Lady" this young miss was in an unfortunate train accident.
The best doctors rebuilt her arm, reattached her spine, and built a clock work heart for her - all from wood as she was allergic to metal, and had her display their work from the porch after she recovered.
Unfortunetly she only lasted a few months, dying from a broken heart.

About a 15 minute sketch. The idea was cool in my head but I'd have to spend more time on it, I think, to get it where I'd like it. Perhaps, if today permits, I'll be able to fix it a bit. Who am I kidding, hopefully I'll be able to fix it a lot. It needs it at this stage.

Goran, beautiful lighting, environment, and mood. I assume you did this digitally, but it really looks like an oil pastel piece.

Hamsta, great narrative. You really get the melancholy, almost film noir feel from the drawing alone. I'd really like to see more of the face fleshed out (excuse the word choice). Right now it looks like there is just some cross hatching going on there. If you could maybe give her a more clearly defined face that could somehow help convey the emotion of the piece, I think you could potentially have something really powerful there.

Asoir, neat idea. I know these are just quick sketches, but if you were to go back and tighten the drawing up a bit and integrate the colors a bit more, it could be a pretty sweet drawing.

Aturkone, I love the character. It has a lot of personality to it. I think it is the baby-faced look, rosy cheeks, the pout, and the old man glasses that really do it for me.

Eriboss, pure awesomeness. The drawing is great. I'm impressed by the detail. And the caption makes it all the better.

Thought this one sounded fun, but didn't have drawing materials with me, so I airbrushed over an old photo using Photoshop. About 30 minutes.

I spent 3 hours on this dude. His arm dosesn't look totally wood like but that's the best I could do with it.
goran - maybe a touch dark, but your the man :yayca:

Heya, about an hour on this in photoshop, way too long for how the result came out, I'm not happy at all with this but am tired so it stays bodgy! I went for the look for the wooden arm like those little marquette figures.

doyoobi wrangler I admit I kinda plopped on the face, she's looking away from the point of view, and she has one of those net hats. I should have looked for some ref.

You need alot of work on your anatomy - super long neck, the odd chest (ballerinas are usually much smaller anyway ;) ) the arm lengths, etc.
Her left arm is shaded like wood as well, and the way the wooden arm crosses her legs is less then satisfactory.
Don't let my words bring you down too much - I still have stuff like that hidden in my closed :teeth:

Thanks for the crit Hamsta. Actually, a lot of the anatomical distortions were intentional. Especially the neck. I guess I was trying to play with the juxtaposition of the rigidity of wood with the grace of human anatomy. Maybe this attempt wasn't so successful, but live and learn. I still plan to go back and clean it up later. I'll definitely take your crit into consideration when doing so.

He'd been a good marshall, and an even better gunslinger... Fastest gun arm I ever saw. It was sure a shame when he lost his arm to gangrene...

Here's my first entry to the DSG! Sorry it's so late, I don't have internet at home, so I have to go to the library to view and upload things. I've seen a lot of really good stuff here, and look forward to participating more often. The whole thing is kind of intimidating sometimes, but I'll give it a go...
