First in a while, obviously incomplete, just 10-20 minutes of boredom work. I may continue later if I feel the need...

-at first, i toyed with he idea of a "momma" ship giving birth to a "baby" ship, but couldn't endure the extreme weirdness of it.
so instead, mine is based on the, "there's always a bigger fish" saying ......but in reverse.... and with spaceships :\
(i like how it kinda looks like they're vomiting spaceships)
-bout 2 hrs phshphttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/atomicsushi74/fishship1.jpg
-btw, whut's up with the odd submit order?

Sure, it's yer average cliché of Flash, or Buck, or Han, or whomever, just barely escaping through the quickly closing gateway...
...But this is really so open-ended. You can toss out all the hackneyed images you have in your head and come up with something really really fresh, or you can embrace those old-hat notions and bask in their comforts.
Up to you.

. ... Actually, I guess it's really not so open-ended. I mean... it's gotta be a spaceship and... i mean... I dunno what I was talking about. :dur:

There's a lot of freedom in design though, the ship, the gate, surroundings, camera point of view, etc. The gateway could be mechanic, organic, a forcefield, you get the point. The challenge here is making something that redefines the cliche :tihi:.

just wanted to design a ship or something and play around with perspective...

Once again, in a druken gambling haze, Sean O'Raleigh escapes yet again with his ship "The highlanders bucket" and with not much more.
Ok, cliches unavoided, I still haven't gone over somewhat aerofynamic space ships :hopeless: painter, hour or so

Well... Things still seem a bit strange around here...
I don't think it's all quite right at CA.org just yet.
I'm not really happy with quite a number of things about it, but here's my effort from yesterday's topic:

Bylo - No apology necessary, that's pretty groovy! I like the underside, the neck, the legs, and the pose.
Crits: The head is kinda boring, I don't care for the claws, and I dunno how good an idea it really is to have the floor clipped by the bottom of the picture (methinks maybe opposite of good idea ;) ). But, for not drawing mechs, that's a pretty good start!
llothcat - Fun! Very Fisher-Price :P ... Is that... is that a cow catcher?? Maybe show some cow aliens in the bg? I think the bg would benefit from less detail... maybe blur it out a bit to better distinguish the "bus" from its surroundings?
Hamsta -I keep seeing that as a pig's-head escaping the station :D! Maybe to spruce up the bg, and follow this in that whimsical new direction, you could paint something like "TransSolar Meat" on the station in big block letters?
machzero - I like 'em both! In that first one, though, since the exit is the main lightsource...
...I think the image would benefit from darkening down the character/ships to near-silhouettes with just the glowing (and much more saturated) instrument panel and subtle green highlights that would describe some of that area.
atomicsushi - Clever idea (This might become a future dsg...) I especially like the smaller ships and figure. Not convinced that the Imperial Shuttle could really swallow that cool little shiny green ship, though ;). crit: Composition is crazy: Should be a longer pic with the ships a bit better spaced/oriented. Also, the rough and ragged edge of that planet it most bothersome.
winwinja - Welcome! Great perspective. I think this would benefit from greater contrast between the sky and ship, and even greater contrast between the sky and building. ...and... wouldn't that figure be fried?? :D
goran - My fave today! Great sense of speed! Marvelous ship! Cool colours, too.

Bill Funny, my brother said the same thing about the one nostriled pig snout, but I don't see it :^^;:
I think you did a damn good job following your own brief - great sense of motion and of barely escaping, can almost hear the metal grating (you can't hear in space though, so, um, yeah) good job on field of view focus thing, do you add that later?
I think defining the size better would be nice, right now it seems like a medium sized ship escaping a medium sized bay.

Hamsta - Thanks! I might go back into this a bit... The blur was something I added with "blur tool" as an afterthought... It really needed it. I now remember that I had intended to toss a gazing window or two in the background, and that would've indicated scale... I forgot about that (I was actually thinking of this as medium-sized ship escaping a medium-sized station, though.).
To see the pig, understand that the perspective is as such: View is from beneath pig Pig is gritting teeth (under-panels) Sides of ship are cheeks Cockpit is nose, and finally... Tail fin is ear.
