I never really sculpter before..I only played with plastiline when i was a kid

Since my drawing skills are getting better , I do want to be a painter..I figure I would try messing with clay to get a grasp on form, this are done from imagination/memory..I kinda did a pre sketch on paper then develop it from there, Im working on another sculpture just for fun :)

this are done with clay..I let it air dry then I paint them with acrylic ..no armature on them..except on the feline tiger thingie hehe....his tail has wire for support..

sculpture: it is painted with white oil instead of acrylic..

Well, I think it's a good start, but i think you need to work on the details.
I recomend that you buy a harder clay (Because what i can see from your pics, the clay you're using looks kinda' soft and wet), such as Super Sculpey or Fimo (Perhaps Fimo is TOO hard, but..), because at least I find it alot easier to do the small details with a hard clay.
Perhaps you need to wor some on the anatomy also, but don't rush. Only "work" when you fell like it, don't push yourself into doing it, it's better to wait until you feel the inspriation flowing in your veins ;P hehe

And tip of the century: Always use armature! :) It's better to do that than to rebuild the whole thing if you drop it or something.

Cheers

andorz: thanks..never mind the date i did it in 2003..that camera was messed up..thanksfor the advice..i tried supper sculpy and is too hard for me..is it the white one.? .i like this clay cause is soft and easy to work with..i got a big bag so i will try to finish it all :)

i ditch the armature because it restricts me...is hard to change the pose with a wire beneath it..the last one i have done..is a tad better..my anatomy is improving a bit....and yeah is hard to do details..which i might try sculpting when the clay is dry..I would like to pursue a bit of classical sculpture in the far future..first i have to become a painter..so this are done for fun to get confortable using my hands..has anyone read the Eduard lanteri book? he was teacher of rodin..thanks
