Okay, my first try with Tablet + Painter IX.
Any crits welcome, but I know the anatomy of the face is quite wrong, but I didn't really worry about it.

Background will be jungly and those goggly eyes will be those of two vicious predators. :needle:

Will update soon.

:!: Feel free to take my picture and alter it in any way you want, like big red arrows where things went wrong ...

How do you get the pic from stage one to stage 2?

Well stage 1 is basically the first drawing, sort of composition sketch. Didn't use any pencils, I went directly for colors.

Then I selected the brown I used for the flesh, made it a little lighter and used that on the right side of the face. A darker variant of the brown was used on the left side. And then a couple of in between variants of the brown were used to add more depth and highlights. (ear, nose, ...) I also added a little red to the brown tints to give cheeks, lips and nose a little more 'blood'.

I admit I haven't done any research on where a shadow should fall on a face that was lit up that way, so my dark and light parts are probably a bit off.

At last I made a brush (first time I did that) that looked like this /
Jitter on 100% and a slightly lighter colour than the one is used for the hair.
Same thing here, darken the colour for shadow parts and lighten the color for lightened parts.
