I'm really new to photography, just checking it out seeing if I like it and so on. Just thought I'd show you all a picture I took of one of my tortoises. Comments/Critics welcome.

i think it might make a more interesting pic if you got to the tortoise's eye level to take the picture; and maybe get a few from varying distances

I'll try take another picture how you said, not sure how well the tortoises will co-operate though.

well it's an ok composition, i'd have to agree if the tortoise were more eye level or even better, above the eye level somehow, it'd make it more interesting


also hope you don't mind but i took the picture into photoshop for a minute or so and did some standard corrections(density levels, color, burning)

corrected (this actually isn't too great, just a means of showing the general areas you need to watch, such as the blown out highlights that were originally on the tortoise's shell, etc.)

You should try getting tighter around the tortise with injection's pic.
