This is the leader character for a 4 team hero group. I am going kind of medieval/fantasy.

Simplicity and cartoony is the objective since this is for a 2d animation short. Let me know what you think.

the full body shot has many a problem, even when stylised its unbelievable. mainly because he is leaning very far to the left of screen and therefore appears unbalanced. the sword and abnormally large head dont help this much either.

whats up with his crotch area? is it supposed to be like a loin cloth or is it supposed to wrap around like a nappy? its neither this nor that at the moment..

his costume is quite bland, and nothing says "look, im a hero!" or particularly stands out for that matter. some design elements would help this, perhaps a super-group symbol emblazoned on his chest? the wrinkles on his pants are pretty much symetrical, evenly spaced and what-not. this is almost never the case with real pants. my suggestion (even tho its cartoony)? you need reference.

here, i think the Disney's Aladdin is a style that may suit.

see how theyve simplified the anatomy and clothes? that should be what youre after. sorry if ive come across as harsh, but yeah, it needed to be said. hope i havent caused offense, either way :)

haha, I expect you to be rough, that the only way I can improofe.

uh leaning left, thats the bad scan..looks better on the original. For the hero look, he supposed to look kind of blant, not the super hero type of guy. Rather more the average guy with a sword who manages to keep a clear head when everyone else would go crazy. Guess the word hero is misleading a bit.

yeah well we had to do this without reference..but I'll go over it again for sure.

Thanks for the hints...

He's got awfully droopy shoulders that are too low from his head, and his lower legs are curved, instead of straight.

Simplicity and cartoony doesn't mean it has to be crudely drawn. The hard angles on the head and face don't go with all the curves drawn for the body.
