Here's a piece I'm currently working on. It is being done in 3dsMax 5.1

He is going to have bi-focals, and since he doesn't have traditional ears (due to his slightly reptilian physiology) I am either hanging them from his horns, or giving him a wrap around bifocal thingy.

The tongues on the back of his head are for heat dissipation; he can't sweat. This was due to feedback from some old ILM'ers where they told me in no uncertain terms: "NO TENTACLE DREADLOCKS!!!!"

Any suggestions on form? I haven't refined him from the lower lip downward, so that's not a finished area. I want to redo the eyes, and give more detail to the plating on the top of his head. Maybe I should break down and give him some sort of ear? I will texture him when he is done being modeled.

I would suggest to make his jaw/masseter (sp?) much larger. That always looks very evil and demonic :)

What's wrong with the tentacles? Tell us the story!

Ok, they're unoriginal, but well ...

Dont hang glasses from the horns! Warparound is much cooler

Yeah, or clip-ons. I do want them to be bifocals. The story really isn't much. I work with a bunch of guys who work/worked at ILM, Pixar, etc... I was asking two of them their opinion on the model, and that's what they told me. This is the first character I've modeled in close to 4 years. I did level design in video games for 3 and a half, and as a result I never got to do my own work. It's nice just to cut loose and see that I can still do this kind of modelling.
