If you have not heard of Darkwatch, you have been buried in a grave. The game has been all over the internet and the fansite has been up almost a full year.

Darkwatch is a First Person Vampire Western where you play a Darkwatch Agent and fight your way through evil hoards of creatures. Along the way you will have to choose a path of good or evil.

Here is the story.

Welcome to the Wild West, circa 1876. You are Jericho Cross, seasoned outlaw.

Looking for a big score, you raid a secret treasure train. Unknown to you, this train belongs to the Darkwatch, an ancient organization committed to defeating supernatural evils. The cargo of this train is not money or jewels, but a captured vampire lord being transported to the Darkwatch Citadel for interrogation.

You blow open what you think is the treasure vault on the train, only to release the oldest and most powerful creature of his kind. Perhaps from perverse gratitude, this vampire doesn't kill you. He just bites you, so you slowly turn into a vampire yourself!

With growing supernatural powers, you hunt Lazarus, the vampire who sired you. If you gun him down before the curse overcomes you completely, you might win back your soul. If you fail, you will be damned to walk the earth as an undead monster, having condemned the West to despair under the rule of evil incarnate.

Here are some features of the game.

Powerful weapons, each with unique secondary melee attacks.
Fire at enemies from horseback or armored vehicles.
16 player via XBox Live.
Dynamic Enemy and NPC AI-Your decisions determine a path of good or evil.


The game is set to release on August 16th for XBOX and PS2.

For XBOX you can have XBOX live and play against your friends. For PS2 you have the co-op mode.

You will notice it says Sammy Studios at the lower right of each box. That company no longer exists.
CAPCOM and High Moon Studios are putting out this game.

wow, what an amazing concept. Take the completely milked out and overused theme of a wild western shooter, and for safety throw in some uber-cliche and totally infallible undead! Tie in some god awful characters and storylines, and viola! you've got the next 4.99 special in the Wal-Mart bargain bin!

High Moon Studios consists largely of ex-Oddworld employees, so they've got some serious talent behind the game. I'm hoping they can pull it off.

However, the blatant advertising is a little lame.

Dead Man's Hand, Mob Enforcer, oddworld's Stranger (not reeeaally western, but western themed. kicks ass, too) , Outlaws, Gunfighter: The Legend of Jesse James , Wild Arms 3, Oregon trail 1-5 or whatever (<3), Western Outlaw : wanted dead or alive, etc. etc.
got bored of listing.

the game really dosen't strike me as something innovative or new, its just another cranked out game because ,census says, the kids love 'em. Im sure the developers are great guys, the oddworld series kicked ass, but this game isn't their shining point.
