I believe textiles to be a form of art so I hope posting this here is alright.

This costume was pulled together in about two days.

It was created from some pre-existing materials:
Hot topic dress, old ballet costume, pre bought wings and a black feather boa that sheds >.<

I removed the tulle skirt from the leotard piece of the costume and sewed a waist band into it to wear under the hot topic dress. I then removed the tulle sleeves from the leotard and sewed them onto the top of the hottopic dress. I then removed the flowers that were on the top of the leotard and sewed them to the middle of the wings. I took the head piece and turned it into a little pin and pinned it to the side of the dress.
It was all sewn by hand as my sewing machine is currently out of commission

I'll be wearing this dress to otakon this weekend.

What we can see of it looks nice, but unfortunately the black is all one solid mass in the photo. Perhaps an outdoor photo in daylight would show it better.
Have fun at the convention I think you'll be a hit.

KINDA'!? Gilead smacks ParkerD repeatedly about the head. In a good natured, paternal instinct, kinda' way of course.
But yes you should smile in yor pics.

Ill make sure to get some photos out in the daylight and post them up then. ^^

It's raining outside right now so I can't do it at the moment but I will eventually.

Thank you for the comments. ^^

Shoes! What about shoes? How can we get a sense of the entire thing without the shoes!

Seriously though, costume design is a dying art as fewer and fewer people bother to learn the seamstresses art. A good costume fitter and clean up in the film industry. A friend of mine who did just that has recently retired from the film industry and bought a brew pub on a local island.

Well the shoes I currently don't have. I'm borrowing my friend's pointe shoes as I no longer own mine(and even if I did they probably wouldn't fit anymore.)

Yes I agree it's a dying art. I love sewing and I love fashion and I so wish it wasn't.

I'm hoping to go into the industry....if its not to forward and if your friend wouldnt mind i'd like to talk to them about it.
