This character concept is based off of a older design that Ive updated, set in a non-egyptian setting, took me 11 hours 22 min, I set a time limit of less than than 12 hours, so I feel this piece is pretty good for that amount of time. I am looking for advice to help me improve my skills if you got time and advice. Enjoy.

I love the character design. It feels more Asian than anything. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the hands seem like the focal point. The setting was handled really well, but it just seems kind of dull.

Don't get me wrong, though, because I love the textures of the architecture. I just think you could've shown some more of the setting, especially since you've described it as non-Egyptian and left it open to 200 some odd countries. :-p

looks good.
consider two things:

firstly,
look the where the shadow is,
it would seem that a light that far to our right would place a little more shadow on the left side of his mask.

secondly,
the sand is a bit stiff.
if he were sinking in a bit more, it would be nice.
plus, try to build up some dunes of sand around the columns.
think of the way snow builds up around the trunk of a tree.
the wind pushes it up against one side, and creates a dip on the other side.
( i dont know if you have snow where you live, but trust me ;) )

Cool piece. I really like the design of the character. You got good crits already, but i would work more on the hands - make them look like the hands of a warrior. Also the front foot needs a little more shape. Very well done for the timelimit though. Keep it up.

robinchyo-yeah the scene is a little dull, its more bout the character.

DSillustration- You are a very good critiquer, thanks. I must have forgot to shade the left side of the mask....and good point bout the sand.

Fellah.- Thanks, but what do warrior hands look like?

nicely designed character, really like the subtlety of the colours.

The hands: make sure they are posed correctly, just tried to make the shape of the right hand and almost dislocated my index finger, it naturally comes forward to grip with the thumb. A warriors hands will tend to have larger first knuckles than most peoples, due to constant smacking of things with them, as well as thicker fingers from a lot of gripping.

His left our right foot looks like it's on the wrong way around, and is also very squared off, no arch at all.

other than the crits excellent, love the head gear.
