Nice so far, though the cartographer´s head is to big for the robber i think..
But actually i really like the cartografer, is more original and expresive, and his props work much better, unlike the robber, who looks kinda cliche IMO

His left foot is too small, and the cartographer's eyes don't look all that scared or upset, but otherwise, I like this one a lot!
What is/was your inspiration for this piece? If it's a book, I'd love to know the title, as it must be an interesting read.

to be honest, it was a life quickstudies workshop. i just took the model's poses and turned 'em into monsters, aliens, watever my brain could jot out at that moment (i like space stuff!).
this particular QS came out better than others, so i cleaned it up a bit and probably will splash color on it or something.
thanks for crits! keep em coming!

madster: thanks!
when you said his left foot - his left, not my left, right? i think i know what you're saying, but dbl-checking.

The hands are especially good. About the big head, this is an alien who lives on a spideryrobotthing so I wouldn't expect him to have normal proportions. And he looks like he's pleading, not necessarily scared.

You got it, crick.
I try to always clarify my comments with a (as viewed) if I'm referring to "your" left, as opposed to "his left." In this case, it's his left foot (no relation to the movie...lol!) that is too small. Basically, from the arch forward, with a bit more height needed on the top, to better match his right foot, which looks proportionally correct, with good foreshortening, by the way.
This is SUCH a cool illustration. I really wish it had been inspired by some sci-fi novel, as I want to know more about that cartographer, and why he's being robbed...
Now you gotta make a backstory for it. Maybe even write the damn book, just so I can read it...lol!
BTW, I agree with Gitsune (again, damn it!) about the head size. I think he looks JUST RIGHT with the oversized head, since he is not human.

Frezzato is the man! I look through those books all the time.
crick - I like everything you have going on here but the one thing I would change is the expression on the robbers face. It's a little expressionless right now or doesn't seem to fit the situation he's in. Maybe if he's showing a few teeth it might make him seem a little more threatening. :^^:

great start, madsters on point with the crit. feet and hands are usually drawn too small. hands are around 4/5th of the forearms length (maybe a tad bit less) and feet are nearly 2/3rds of the tibia and fibula - and they get even bigger when they are clad.

Really a cool start, so far! I like the little machine he's sitting in.
I think it looks like he's holding a raisin. I'm not sure if that's a darkened thumb, or if the thumb is the other stroke above that? That's about the only part that confuses me.
Otherwise, I like it a lot!
