Nice paintings. What's the medium?
The shadow thing on the wall is good and creepy.
In a funny way the second pic reminds me of Phil Hale's paintings (any one it doesn't matter). Shirtless person, odd posture, arms thrown back. I'd much rather look at your model than his though.

There's something weird around the hips of the first girl. Can't really explain myself in English so I'll put it this way: it's like her hip bone is pushing the skin up at the right side. It's like her bottom is seperated from the rest of the body.

But I totally love the colors and the paintjob done on the first one. Amazing.

*waves to fellow RISD grad and Bostonian*

What year were you? I'm guessing you were illustration? Your work is excellent and you have a real handle of traditional media. Also, congrats on getting published!

I dunno if you are aware, but there is a Boston CA sketchgroup that meets every few weeks - would you be interested in joining up?

Very nice :) I love them girls. <3

Only thing that bothers me is the lack of a second leg in the second pic. From here pose I feel like I have to be able to see it.

Wow! This is really cool that you guys responded so quickly! Thanks for the crits and comments! I'm not really sure how to respond to everyone at once, so here I go......

Gilead-- Phil is one of many artists I admire greatly, although when I started this painting I wasn't intending on using his work as a referrence- it just kinda ended up that way-but thanks for the compliment! The first piece is a mixture of watercolor (my preferred medium), guoche, and a bit o' digital. The second is oil.

Jon- awwww thanks Jon! But you're still not getting out of it! ;)

Glogick-Thanks man!

Poshspice-Thank you so much! The book comes out in October and its full of really great artists so check it out. As to your question, I mostly work in watercolor and guoche and I'm still struggling a bit with oils.

Pencilator-hahahaha no worries you definitely will be seeing more of me whether you want to or not! I will be posting a few more paintings within the next week or so and hopefully after that the new stuff i'm working on will be fnished.

Mandrake-thanks!!

DSillustration- wow. At the risk of sounding like an amateur I just have to say what a huge fan I am and I appreciate you taking the time to check out my site. I really admire your work and I'd love to hear any feedback you have to give on future postings.

Zergaloth-I totally know what your talking about with the hips, but I could never place my finger on exactly what it was that was making it look off-I'm thinking I over-exaggerated the lines where the hip bone and the small of the back come together? Thanks for the crit!!

Cleptocat-Thank you!

Willow-Whisp- Guilty as charged! I am an ilustration major and I just graduated this past June (what class were you?). I'm actually very glad you mentioned the sketchgroup becacuse I've been wanting to get together with other artists around the area and I'd definitely be interested in joining. Newton is full of too many accountants :dur:

Faust-- You mean....you don't like one-legged topples women?! lol. Yes, I see where you are comming from on that one--thats something to fix when I go back into the original painting. Thanks for pointing that out.

I was a year ahead of you - I dunno if you went to our senior show in '04 or not, but it was called "6" and had a spiffy super hero poster to advertise it ^_^

I'm waiting to hear back from the others about the sketch group; FYI, the thread is here! (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44653) We've only met once so far, but it was a lot of fun and I hope to keep this up while we still have the nice weather.

Oh, my roomie says she might have been your roomie when you were a sophomore. RISD is such an incestuous little place... ;) There are a LOT of RISD alumni in the Boston area (two in Belmont *waves*, dozens in Cambridge, even more in Somerville) so yeah, you're in good company!

hmmmmm and the plot thickens!!! Lets see, I had about six roomates my sophomore year so its quite possible your roomate was one of them. Is her name Sarah by any chance? and I believe i did go to your senior show-was the poster done by either Palo or Joe?

Steph Laberis

Hah! Yes, Sarah is my roomie! What a smaaaaaall world. And my show was the year after the one with Paolo... t'was myself, Juan, Jesse, JP, Ian and Jordin. We were sort of trying to be the "next" Paolo/Joe senior show; while it wasn't quite the same, we still did very well that night. :)

Wow, sorry to hijack your thread like that >__<
