Hello everyone.
As some of you know, Jason has me over here in Prague setting up the next european workshop. I am in the process of booking the venue now and will be able to give you definate workshop dates in the next few days, but right now we're aiming for the 3rd or 4th week of october- a friday through monday stretch.
I do, however need some information from you guys. Please answer the following questions:
1) how many of you are planning to attend, tentatively or for sure, in keeping with the tentative dates.
2) Do you wish to stay in:
A) a hostal with a shared room with 8 other CA workshop members, 15 euros a night - free internet, but no wifi-
B) a mid priced hotel, double room, 30-50 euros a night.
C) upper scale hotel, double room, 60-130 euros a night.
Ill likely need more info later, but this is important now so i know how many rooms to reserve.
thanks a bunch you guys! Ill be posting more information and pics as they come...

Anyway, about the hotel, i'd like the idea of sharing rooms with other members....

I'd love to go but don't know if i'll be able to afford it. So, the cheaper the better.

Hi Layil,
It is going to be tough to get a good guage of attendees from a thread. I have tried but what I found was that if seventy people say yes to the thread, two or three hundred actually show up. :) However, this workshop will be limited in number. We want to keep it toward the size of amsterdam in scale vs the giant workshops in sf and austin.
What we have found previously is that the people attending the workshops are most likely interested in the budget travel stuff. I would focus on that. If people want hostels, they can book them theirselves. We have found that if people have a list of options to choose from hotel wise and hostel wise, they will handle the bookings and setup on their own.
Cant wait for the pics! Thanks so much.
Please send the pics to my email or the like ok? I will post them here once we have the package of stuff together.

i would love to join in. after amsterdam i progressed faster than ever before and i hope prague will be as good. regarding the stay in prague, i'd prefer something cheap and simple but as jason stated, we can surely arrange that by ourselves.
thx for teh info , layil :]

I would go for sure!
And yeah cheap is better. So we can stay longer :).
But just a list of some nice stuff(hotels/hostels/crashing spots) would be ok i guess.
But you can count me in for the workshop :)

Im in, definately! As for sleeping, cheapest = best. It will also be the most fun sharing rooms with fellow CA members. Social = win.
I really dont want to have to make the sleeping arrangements on my own. My ADD kicks in when i try to handle too many of these details at once. So if just get a list of where im gonna sleep, what it will cost, and other details, that will make me happy.
See you guys in prague!
//edit: If someone like me who's travelling alone, and who's not very experienced in travelling the world wants to chat abit, work out a group to share our worries, questions and other things, pm me, or maybe start a thread in the appropriate subforum. Maybe we could arrange the sleeping too, so that we dont feel so lost.

Layil, First off thanks for scouting out the area for everyone. We owe you a big thanks at the workshop. I'm in, just as long as I can get a spot and whatnot. As for where to stay, I would like to save as much money as possible on that so any hostle information would be fantastic. I might stick around for a couple of days before or after the workshop just to look around and whatnot. Anyone else up for that? And Jason, thanks again in advance. Is everyone from MB gonna make it out?

Giddy up
I'm in if I can get a spot on the list. Where do I send the check? ;) I can find a hostel, or bunk with CA peeps.
Thx

I am also 90% sure. It's all about absence schooldays and money.
Definitely big room groups in hostel would be more fun. Low-cost hi-social activity. :^^:
I am also a bit worried about being lost:
Is anybody else coming from Finland? Could PM me if possible.

i am definetly in!!!
its going to be my first one, and i hope it will be great!
so i don't mind where i sleep, as long as it is not too expensive, so low costs are preferred. just give me a mattress to sleep and everything will be fine!
i also would like to stay with pther CA-mebers.

Maybe the location of the workshop is importend for the choice of the hostal or hotel. Not sure how the situation is in prague but i would hate to have an over 1h ride from the hotel to the workshop and don`t forget its weekend.
Amsterdam was good ,everything close together.

I'm definitely in. After the belgium workshop i just have to go.
Now i really need to know, how will you decide who gets a spot on the list? It'd suck so much if i had the money to go and just couldn't because i was not on ca.org when it was announced. Maybe make the entrance portfolio based? Tell me so i can work till my fingers bleed.

If I can get my holidays I´m in. Because I want to stay a bit longer in Prague and see a bit of the city beside the rooms of the workshop I suppose I will organize a medium hotel for myself.

I'm absolutely definately in. Possibly along with some other ppl, but I am 100% sure coming.
As for prices, I'm indifferent. It would be cool to hang out with the other attendees, so I'll just go with the flow :)

How much approx will the workshop be itself? I know there isnt a definate price but surely all you guys are saving money around a certain figure.
How much was the last workshop?

Late October Friday to Monday sounds good, I'd prefer the hostel as well.
The only thing I'm worried about is the limited number. How is it decided who gets a spot and who doesn't?

I'm in for sure, and Hostal sounds good for me. The more the merrier, besides, even if we stay at a hotel, we are just gonna stay up till one or two AM every night sketching in the lobby anyway. Might as well be all in one room to make it easier!

Hello everyone
thanks, first off, for your replies. I dont mean this thread to be a gauge on how many people are attending, i just wanted to get an idea what interest there was out there. I will be letting people book their own rooms (cant be bothered!) but i will be reserving a block of rooms (hopefully at a discounted rate!) in the Golden Sickle Hostal in prague. Its a 15-20 easy walk to the venue- theres also a tram that goes there, and its a really cool place where the staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice and big. you also get your own kitchen to cook in, should you want to.
Ill be sending all the info i have to Jason to look over first, but once he OKs it, ill post a general HOW TO to prague, with maps, transport and hotel info and links so you can get booking.... it looks like your overwhelmingly in favor of the shared room idea, so ill focus on more of those and have a nice little hotel for those who wish to be a bit more civilized. ;)
more soon!

2 - A or B.. depends if my boyfriend will come with.
So basicly.. nothing definite.

i will join for sure aswell, eventhough im new i realy like the idea.
id prefer hostels for sure, and a kitchen sounds very nice aswell (no i wont cook for everyone >:D )
since ive been to prague allready im a bit concerned about sicurity matters, it would be good to have hostels where u can log up notebooks and so on, and if u plan to go to prague with ur car make sure it either looks like crap or u get some secure parkin :D.

Jens: theres a car share service that runs to and from prague.... check it at:
www.spolujizda.cz. you may get a cheap flight if you start looking now too...
Theres wireless internet at the venue (yes, we have a venue!) and free terminals as well. At the hostal, there'll be a couple terminals with free access, lockers, and a place to lock up your valuable gear.
we have dates! but i cant tell you what they are until J lets me.... ;)
soon! soon!

I am definitely going if I can get enough money together (so the hostel option would be my choice), but is there any way we can work out a buddy system amongst newbie travellers? I've never been out of North America, never flown before, and might faint when I arrive on a new continent :)

Of course, just start a new thread about that in this forum whenever the dates are announced. It has worked before, so it should work this time too. :)

Ok Im all the way in for this, I checked the prague consulate,
and it appears that mexicans do not need a visa to enter Prague
as long as Im not goning to make bussines or to study, so heres my
question I dunno how WSHP will work, I mean I can say to the consulate
that Im going just to gather with some friends as a tourist;
I do not need some kind of student visa rigth?
Aside that Im interested on this idea:
A) a hostal with a shared room with 8 other CA workshop members, 15 euros a night - free internet, but no wifi-
ill be way more fun to crash with all ther other fellow CA members,
plus imo the cheapest the hotel the better cause I dont have
to much cash :P
This is gonna be really GREAT!!! and a big THANKS to Layil and Jason for
taking the time to make this happen, :D :yayca:

O.k., I have to bail out - real life´s demanding more money and I simply can´t afford to come. Unless I can trade the tuition costs for a lecture about arms and armour I´d have to sell the dogs of my wife (what would lead to other problems ...).
Anyway have fun in Prague!

But because it isn´t the case i would say about 85% of a yes!
2.-For sleeping: hostal!

I am gonna get there. Whatever I have to do. The good thing about still living with parents that pay for a lot of things and are very supportive of opprtunities like this. I have been saving alot of money so I just need to A.) get a spot in the workshop B.) Find a way to go making my parents feel alright about it (i am 17). Any suggestions/info would be good.
If I can sharing a room with 7 others would be very fun.
