I just rented the HBO series Deadwood this week. HOLY SHIT! This has gotta be one of the coolest shows I've seen in a while. Has anyone else here gotten into this show? If you like westerns, hell, if you like watching a group of crazy pioneer dudes scheming and cheating their way through a newly built town in the west, then you gotta watch this show. I can't wait for season 2. Looks like I'll have to order HBO again.

It is a great show. Another of HBO's good TV. The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Carnivale, Entourage
Al Swearengen one of the best characters on tv.

I started watching it at the beginning of last season. I agree, the show kicks ass. I should try to get my hands on the first season one of these days.
Can't wait for the next season to start. Anyone know when that's gonna be?

Wish I could watch it but I have a moral issue with hollywood and their continuing employment of convicted child molestors.
Jeffrey Jones-A. W. Merrick
In November 2002, after having been accused of hiring a 14-year-old boy to pose for sexually explicit photographs, Jones was charged with one felony count of employing a minor for purposes of taking sexually explicit photos and a misdemeanor count of possessing child pornography and released on $20,000 bail. In July 2003, after pleading no contest He was placed on a sex offender register, given five years probation and ordered to undergo counselling. The misdemeanour charge of possession or control of child pornography was dropped.

Ssenkrah: I was surprised to see him on the show. I figured after all that child-porn stuff he would never work again. I still like the show though.
patdzon: That's basically like asking what makes the Sopranos different from other mob movies. Deadwood is different from other westerns because it's more realistic. Alot of western movies are just glorified versions of the pioneer days. This series is very gritty and raw, and gets into a lot of detail about the inner workings of a pioneer town.

That's true Ssenkrah. The dialogue is almost prose like. However, it is peppered with every curse word imaginable. Also, the writing is incredibly well thought out.
