First off, this is one of my first art posts here, but I bet you’re tired of hearing (reading) that. Well this is my first attempt using photoshop..and it wasn’t easy. I’m somewhat satisfied with the final product, but I hope to improve. I would love some crits or tips on photoshop. Well here it is?

I'm planning to add more to this (like a background), but i doubt that'll happen anytime soon. I would appreciate any ideas on a bg? I was thinking of a cannibal setting....(am i posting in the right section..?) x_x

ah!
that is seriously disturbing.

so far it looks great, impressive for your first attempt.
a few things:

*kill the white BG.
work up to white, dont start with it.

*pump up the teeth, little highlights, maybe... they look fantastic.

*hair forms clumps. identify those clumps and treat them differently. the curves they create should have highlights, they will also cast shadows on one another. hair is not just multi-colored strands... it has form.

*let the highlight in the eyes break the border of the pupil. highlights float on the surface of the eye. they are not restricted to the pupil. by making them break that edge you create a real sense of layers.

Thanks DS! I’ll make sure I won’t start with white next time. Thank you for the crits! I’ll make sure to (try to) fix it.

Like the look a lot, thoght i thin kthe face is somewhat flat looking, i would suggest trying your smudging-blurring in the direction of form, remember the nose is closer to the viewer that the surrounding cheeks. Good effort, would like to see just a little more depth.
