Hi all! I did a search and couldn't find anything, so hopefully this topic hasn't already been covered.

Monday the 8th I will be attending my first life-drawing session and I was hoping some of the veterans could give a few pointers on what to expect. I've heard it can be a daunting experience for some. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time! :teeth:

if you're not used to the nonchalance of the nudity the first time around its a tad akward.. once you see everyone else's casually attitude, it wears off fast.. by like the 3rd session its totally normal..

After a couple of thousand sessions <> you really start to get good at it <> just kidding of course <> you will think you are getting better then you will think you are getting worst then you will think you are not making any progress at all <> in truth you will be getting better and you will be making progress <> as you learn to see you learn to see more mistakes <> you won't be making more of them just seeing more if you get the picture <>

I tell new students to keep and date all of there drawings even ones they think are bad
<> Then when the going gets a little tough lay them out in order <> the progress will hopefully surprise you <> good luck and God speed

im no veteran, but i did just start. i've done 3, so far. they've involved developing a method/technique to handle things like shading, dealing with timed poses (so, pacing, deciding what can get done when) how much of my paper to use for short poses, dealing with 3d space.

the first 2 models were easy in terms of awkwardness--none. and then i got this one with very nice breasts...well, it was distracting. im sure you'll enjoy it.

What to expect? Nude people and their privates glorified!!! hehe

I was overwhelmed the first time, so if you do, its normal. You'll get used to it the first few days but remember to throw all that self-doubt out the window and observe your subject! Focus! Get the most out of your figure drawing classes! Gluck!
