Title:
Bug Warz
Target Platform:
PC - WinXP
Game Engine:
FlatRedBall - www.flatredball.com
Summary:
Bug Warz is a multiplayer platformer/fighting game where players fight battles on teams and can evolve their insect's colony to specialize and improve their overall performance. The game focuses on smooth animation, teamwork, specialization, replay factor, game balance, and progression.
Theme:
Humans are gone, and bugs are left as the animal best fit for survival. Rapid evolution has improved the intelligence of the insects and they begin to emulate the human behavior that they have seen in their urban environments. There are four insect types: The Hip-Hop Ant, the Italian Mobster Beetle, the Kung-Fu Mantis, and the Dirty Fly.
The game will have a cartoony urban feel. Common weapons will include the baseball bat, beer bottle, uzi, and handgun. Hip hop beats will be playing during the battles and menus.
Current Progress:
Concept creation began in Jan 05, character creation in March 05. We expect the game to be finished in Dec 05 or Jan 06. The game is around 40 - 50% complete. All four insect types are drawn, scanned, converted to digital sprites. Three of the four are rigged, animated, and implemented into a working demo. As we wrap up character creation, we are looking moving into level creation.
What we need:
Our small team is composed of 3 people. Me(Victor) - Project Lead, Programmer, Digital Animator, Gameplay Designer; Cesar - Character Artist, Character Animator, Character Sprite Creator; Marc - Music, Audio, Preliminary Level Design.
Although we are small, we are extremely efficient and hard working. However, small teams don't have the manpower required to delegate small tasks. Therefore, any team member will not only have to be able to perform his specialty, but also be able to fill in the "creative gaps".
We need someone who can take an active role in the entire level development process. This includes pen and paper layout, concept art, digital component (Sprite graphic) creation, and assembly.
The three of us are graduate students at Indiana University and are working on this project for class credit, experience, and fun. We cannot offer any compensation, but naturally credits will be given. We plan on entering and displaying this game at a variety of festivals and contests during the following year for maximum exposure.

Again, being a small team, any team member must take an active role in the design of the game, rather than performing delegated tasks. Therefore, we prefer to communicate through Instant Messaging programs rather than Email. My contact information is as follows:

I can also be reached through the FlatRedBall website. We look forward to working with anyone interested and able to produce one of the best fighting games ever!
