Thanks for posting that link. I recently finished a Flash animation called "The Trail" for a client who is a Vietnam vet. The soundtrack is a narration of an essay by the same title he wrote over 30 years ago while serving in the Army. The images with a few exceptions are photos & combat art from several loose leaf binders he rescued from a trash heap that was about to be burned as his unit was preparing to redeploy.

where can you find those?

A lot of what Dunn did in the field were preliminaries for later paintings, and they're kind of hard to find... charcoal and watercolors and stuff... I think they have some at the American History museum. I've seen some of the finished paintings he did after he got back, and was fortunate enough to have seen some battle stuff that George Pratt has slides of.

Dunn was a badass, he made a harness with a spool & crank on it so he could just have a roll of paper- turning the crank when he ran out so he always had a new drawing surface... he ran right into the thick of it.

I liked "The Trail" and that stuff by Dunn. Thanks for the links guys. I don't care how good an artist you are, you ain't shit compared to those artists and photographers who do this stuff under fire. :nohope:
