You've got a really great pencil rendering style going on here.

I think if you flipped the image horizontally, you'd pick up on a bit skewed anatomy on the left jowl (left on the picture as it is shown here).

Other than that, great - though I'm assuming you copied a photo?

Why not try drawing the whole of the deer, though? Painting portraits is a skill in itself, but it's nothing like trying to make the deer look like it's actually standing on the ground in 3D space.

sweet drawing. got some sugestions though. you might want to add some real dark spots. like under the mouth. in the ears.

The reason I haven't done a full animal yet is because this piece was really just intended as a horn/bone study. I'll prolly draw my cat (full) later.

Like it, but, as in ur first image, front plane could be darker.

Very nice deer. I do agree with the darkening of the forward plane of the head, but still a very nice and definitely a sellable piece of art. Please share more when you can.

Thx G's, I tried to keep the darks dark and the lights light... But I guess I fell short with my 2B... I'll use something softer for the darker areas next time.
I don't know if I'll sell it, I'm not a professional artist or anything, I'm 16.

Well, that is how you become a professional, your age doesn't matter in that respect. You could sell prints of that. I sold artwork when I was younger than 16. Go for it, don't let your age hinder you.

Great work. When I saw the drawing I thought "I bet this dude used some taxidermy head as reference", then I scrolled down :tihi:

nice, as was said already, I would really add more contrast here. dare to use really dark values. ears, eyes, horn, muzzle
(I think I can get darker with an HB, so 2B should work already :) )

oh and yes, looking at you work in a mirror can really help spotting some mistakes. you did catch the "likeness" pretty good, though!
