Here's a short trailer for the Doom movie: http://media.filmforce.ign.com/media/490/490104/vids_1.html

Personally I think it's good enough. There doesn't seem to be any "hell" in there, but they're on mars, they're shooting things to pieces, and there are monsters. That's Doom enough for me.

Also, I believe there is a shot of a hellknight in there, and did anyone else notice the Starcraft scream towards the end. I swear I've heard that scream in quite a few places. Is it just that Starcraft is that popular, or is it some stock scream that everyone uses?

Looks like what the Resident Evil movie should have been. Doesn't seem "Doom"-like to me, but it might be a fun movie anyways. :teeth:

i dont understand why they had to change the space marine armour and all the weapons, those shots wuda felt a whole lot more 'doomish' if they were wearing the trademark green body armour and guns.

After viewing the trailer I would like to change my stance on saying this film will suck to that it will really REALLY suck. If this movie doesn;t blow firey chunks, then I'll really be suprised. Everything looks so freakin generic, I can't even believe it.

And Doom isn't generic?

dfacto, for a videogame no. For a movie yes. I think the whole idea of making movies from videogames is pretty stupid. The same things that make good games do not make good movies. It rarely even works in reverse. How many good movies made good games? How have they been so far? Have any been worth viewing? Lets take a look at all the past representations so far...

Ahem..

Games to Movies....
TombRaider I - Not TOO bad - but not TOO great
Tombraider II - Sucked REALLLLLY bad
MARIO BROS - REALLY REALLY SUCKED
Mortal Kombat - Blows but watchable
Mortal Kombat 2 - REALLY REALLY SUCKED
Street Fighter - Wonderful! Just kidding - Sucked
Resident Evil - Blew Chunks
Final Fantasy - Sucked (even though it really had nothing to do with any game)
Im sure there others but I can't really think of them now..
I think doom will fall in between Tomraider and the first mortal Kombat.

I saw MK2 at like 4:30 in the morning once while really drunk, and it was still blatantly obvious that everyone who worked on that movie was either tripping on ungodly amounts of acid, or 11 years old.

The only game-to-movie transition I'm looking forward to is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. One of the only movies I want to see really badly this year.

SOON
Backwater - 2005
BloodRayne - 2005
Doom - 2005
House of the Dead: Dead Aim - 2005

LATER
Silent Hill - 2006

SCRIPT COMPLETE
Dead or Alive
Driver
Mortal Kombat
Onimusha
Prince of Persia

SCRIPTS IN REVISION

Psi-Ops
SpyHunter

IN DEVELOPMENT

The Getaway and Max Payne movies should be good, as well as the Tom Clancy ones.

When is the FF7 movie coming out ?

Go here (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/dvd/ff7ac/) for all the info.

The movie will be simultaneously released in Japan and the U.S. Sept. 13th & 14th. Something like that. There's a counter on the site.

I think I'll be seeing this with a friend. I want to see for myself if this movie is going to be as bad as the trailer is suggesting.

If I had to sum this thing up in one word: lifeless. There was no mood (how the hell can you miss that when you're working on a horror/action flick?), no emotion, no acting... ugh. :er:

To be fair, it was a trailer.

...god I hope the final thing will will be better than this.

Agreed. I think they should go more with the original Doom type atmosphere, instead of the as scubasteve so aptly described it, the "generic" state its in now. Looks kinda weak right now, and they aren't even sticking to the original storyline, which might be a little cliche, but seems like they should go the extra mile and make it work.... just my 2 cents tho.

Hey it could be worse Uwe Boll could be directing it....and if you just keep that in mind while watching the movie, you will certainly believe it to be a masterpiece.

The only good thing I can say about it is???? nothing. It has so many strikes against it. (A) The Cave and the Doom trailer are allmost identical. (B) it's based on a video game where the only redeeming quality is the nomal mapping and lighting. If you've played 100 fps's you've played them all. (c) it stars the rock. Video game movies and movies starring pro wrestlers have a snowballs chance in hell of being any good. (d) It's not that visually impressive. It doesn't even hold up to the game. (e) Doom has a plot? Who would have thunk.

was browsing the net today and stumbled upon this

http://www.wasd.tv/video/DOOMPANEL-WASD.TV.wmv
http://www.thetechlounge.com/article.php?directory=quakecon_day_2

the first link is a reasonable quality film of some guy filming at the recent quakecon where they showed the new trailer and an extended first person sequence segment. The first person sequence ROCKS! the music and mood i feel came across perfectly in that short sequence, i gota admit now even if the rest of the movie and acting is terrible that seqence was definetly pulled off well.
the second link also shows some concept art and sculptures which are pretty cool :)

Actually I enjoyed the game alot. It got a bit repetative towards the end but kept my attention throughout. It didn't revolutionize FPS or anything, but made for a good time blowin away zombies and kicking demonic ass.

<3 The FPS shots look awesome! First shots of the BFG too. I wasn't too excited about this movie before, but this new trailer looks a whole lot more like the game. Couple more years and games will probably look like that.

Oh Baretta hates that shit...

Atmosphere is totally off ...the fps looks cool...but from the trailer alone I got sick of it and you can tell they are using it as a gimmick throughout the movie.

I don't understand how they could have gotten this movie wrong, all they would have had to do is play Doom 3.
