Let's protest Taxes like we protest this war!
I just did my taxes last night and I am sooo sick of being taxed on EVERYTHING!

Food, clothes, income, interest,..etc. not to mention social security, somthing I will never get back or ever be able to live off of anyhow.

I thinnk that it is getting rediculous guys,,, do you know that on top of EVERYDAY TAXES we get 45% of our income taken away?? How the hell are we supposed to have a life outside of work??? This depresses me som uch, because I don't want to spend all my life working and missing out on life. I think we all need a good balance between life and work.

Mark my words...we are going to be taxed to death like the U.K. was in the 60's.. I heard somwhere that the English were being taxed up to 70% of their income!!! That's a sure way to kill a middle class. I bet you anything that if we don't protest like we protest wars in this country over being double even tripple taxed in some cases, we are all going work ourselves to death. And this will or already is effecting everything else in this country.

here in germany its normal to lose 45% of your income.
Thats the reason why our current chancellor Schroeder probably won't be elected the next time ;)

I think its possible to lower the taxes to 30%.
Good arguement to move to Monaco, I heard there's nearly no taxation...

Oh, and the highest possible taxation here in germany is 55% I think :)
That's rather criminal

Cucaracha-

Isn't part of the reason taxes are so high in Gemanry because of the lengthy vacation time that German businesses are required to give to their employees? Or is it just an incredible amount of social programs?

yes, social programs are one point, mostly its health ensurance and your pension depot :)

The direct taxes on wages are even worse. You have to pay directly 300-400$.

They take up to 15% only for health ensurance and 7-12% for the pension - as far as I know. (plus some other programs, of course)

I've paid several grand in taxes already and I'm barely out of highschool, it kills me to think what the government will take from me during the course of my entire lifetime

...although, you guys wanna know something funny? more than 100grand of american tax $ went into the surgury and drug therapy on my leg. so thanks Medicaid, America is the greatest. so I don't really have a problem paying taxes. i feel in debt to society...

so, if yer pissed about paying taxes, maybe you'd feel better if you knew yer tax money was curing children or saving someone's limbs elsewhere in yer country, just a thought.

I have no problem with money going to good causes, but too much of it goes to crap. I just think that people know where they should put their money better than some buerocratic red tape gov't. There are always going to be great non-profit/ scholorship/ donations / funds, that will provide for pepole who need help. We don't need some gov't to come in and take our money, and mess with it as it pleases.

Medicade could be more successfull if it was anonprofit organization, or collalition of private companies, that provided for people who were in need.

I honestly think we would have more noprofit - charity type organizations that would do a better job with our money.

Damn right! In Maine someone came up with the brilliant idea of an out of state sales tax because New Hampshire has a much lower sales tax and Mainers go their to buy things like computers, electronics, furniture etc. Guess what though. I'f you can't give an exact account of what you bought out of state, the state will TELL you what you owe based on a percentage of your income and a statistical average. The out of state sales tax applies to things purchased where they do have a sales tax too. I think it's complete bull, along with marriage penalty, social security.

Luckily for us, the president is proposing a big tax break... With his budget plan that doesn't even figure in the cost of the war. Is it just me or does anyone else think that president Bush should be made to repeat the fourth grade before calling himself commander and chief?

We are NEVER going to get a tax break in this country, it will only get worse. Mark my words. The gov't never wants to cut or stop any programs, their idea of cutting back is preventing new programs...not getting rid of old useless ones.

I predict that as a Californian, 55%-60% of my income will be going to taxes in the next 8 years. We are going to start looking more and more like a socialst country. And if the people don't voice their opinion thru protests like we do with war, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. Can you imagine the amount of coverage and response we could get from publicly protesting all these high taxes!?!

But, if we do nothing, nothing will hapen and we all will be much more poorer in the future. Ahh, socialism.:(

see I differ in this point of view, I will gladly give up even a majority of my income to know that I or anyone else will be able to get medical attention should they need it. If it gives people who don't have much, just a little bit more I think it is worth it. (commie scum) anyway, in our capitalistic society the problem that I have with them right now is that my taxes are paying for some big wig, senator to take a trip to the bahamas on a private jet and his best friend mr. CEO corporate conglomerate along for the ride.

so taxes aren't bad, dumbasses deciding where the money goes is.

What frustrates me most is when you see your tax dollars going to waste. There's probably a lot of people on the boards from BC who are familiar with our government's ineptitude.

Hows this: They spend $450 million on some fast ferries (250 million over budget) only to discover once they go into operation that they have a range of problems including leaving a wake that destroys docks and marinas. After much bumbling about, they auction the boats off for 20 million. Total, not each! So, we just wasted 430 million!

It's mindboggling, how can they fuck up so badly?

(I'm getting taxed out the yahoo - can't even afford to live in OC anymore, which is why I'm looking at moving to Temecula. 909 or bust! Valley of the Dirt People, here I come!)

P.Z.,

The gov't does not put your tax money to what you think it goes to. If you like helping others, you could donate your money...it doesn't need to be TAKEN AWAY from you. I bet you that your money goes to more gov't programs you could care less about than ones you support.

See when they take it, they distribute it amung millions of different , useless, administrations fees, red tape, programs, studies, etc. and by the time your weekly paycheck withholdigs make it to Medicare, it probably amounts to cents.

Besides I think it's fucked up to use the menatality: "If you don't have a job, you don't get insurance"

The only things I'll put my taxes to are , Parks, infrastructure, saftey, law & order. I also don't know why we can't have a Flat Tax rate. Somthing like 30% across the board. So the guy who makes 20k a year, pays 30%, and the guy who make 100k pays 30%...I HATE all this class warfare our system has set up. I mean what's the point or motivation to make more money if your only going to be getting a higher tax rate if you make more money????

Blackwell,

I have some friends out there...and when I mean "out there" I mean WAY out there. Hope you have good A.C. this summer.
If i'm not by the ocean I think I'd die. So , until I can't afford my taxes out here, or to eat, then I'll move.
