ork head and dsg

Here's an ork head. I prefer Paul Bonner (early Warhammer 40k) orks myself. But after seeing John's thing in the finished section I decided to paint one of the ogre-ish ork heads I sometimes draw. It might work as an avatar so I sized it down in the corner. I got some inks too but it seems I misplaced them. Have to install my agfa snapscan and get fotolook for it too (not supposed to work with snapscan but it did on my old system). Nuff talk.

Orks have:
Green skin.
Gorilla like anatomy.
Big jaws.
Two fangs in the lower jaw.
Small brains.
Red or black eyes.
Poor equipment and cloth.
Bad language.
Bad manners.

icon> It's standard Photoshop 5.5 brushes, nothing fancy. I've scanned a couple of inked blobs/splatter that I use to texture things a bit.

IMO, the jaw is far too large (and rounded) for even an Ork.

Also, the brow seems too underdeveloped. Stupid things tend to have heavy brows and beady eyes, no? If you balanced those out, though...

What's ironic, though, is that I was just about to make a post of an orc character I just uploaded...

Varook> You're definately right, although the jaw thing was a joke. It's a bit inspired of the moblins in Zelda 1 if you ever played it.
The eyebrow should be bigger. Very observant of you to see that. I remember having trouble giving it volume with the down right fill light. It was much bigger before I added that. Should be more sad too I think, sorta curved around the eye.

The angel thning is not very detailed. There wouldn't be much more info on it if I posted a larger one.

Yeah, I drew it without the leather cap first and it looked really boring. Somehow that thing made him come alive.

Yeah, hooray, I couldn't resist. The placement of the flare is only so I get as many rings on the pic as possible... wheee... 24 minutes plus 6 whole minutes on figuring out that I had to enlarge and crop the canvas so I could get more lens reflections.
