k so ive been trying to digitally paint some of these lately (i figured it would be better than startig to learn anatomy first) but anyways, i can never really get a good idea about what to do, then when I do, I can't figure out how to start. If somebody can just give me some tips on finding inspiration and maybe some like pics of the process you go through will painting enviros i will much appreciate it!

the most important thing is to have a good grasp of perspective. do some from reference and it may make it easier when doing them from imagination.

yeah i took an art class and we did a big unit on perspective....but i still dont understand just like the process of starting an environment, i have a few good ideas (good IMO) but i just dont know where to start
for example, one idea is to have like a fancy marble floor and then nice columns in the foreground (think sci-fi mansion) and then in the bg (the floor pretty much looks like it ends because the house is on a hill overlooking everything else) and then in the bg i wanted to make a nice nature scene with trees and maybe a lake or something, but i have no idea how i would start something like that

mmm, ok some basics...
Do a bunch of small rough drawing- just thumbnails, nothing massive.
Work out your composition.
What's in the foreground, what's in the distance, where your foucus is o the piece. If its an interior do a doodle of the layout of the floor as a plan view.. this might help you work out where to place stuff. Look at pictures of interiors, look around your local area see if there is anything you could use, take some photos of cool interiors. Erm what else... think of what the environment is used for- what props or furniture would suit it .... oh and have fun.
